The Knicks are in the market for a superstar this offseason after a surprisingly impressive 2020-21 campaign. Marc Berman of the New York Post reported earlier this month that New York might be willing to part ways with RJ Barrett in a trade for Lillard.
Barrett had a breakout year during the 2020-21 season, averaging 17.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and three assists per game while shooting 44.1% from the field and 40.1% from deep. However, it would take more than Barrett to get a deal done.
The Heat, meanwhile, are in the market for a star player after being swept out of the playoffs in the first round by the Milwaukee Bucks following a 2019-20 campaign in which they made it to the NBA Finals.
Miami needs scoring and ball-handling help, which Lillard could provide with ease. However, the Heat likely would have to give up a haul to land him, which could mean parting ways with Tyler Herro and potentially Bam Adebayo.
If Lillard is moved this summer, the Knicks have the best odds at landing him at +250, according to BetOnline.ag. The Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics are also among the teams with the best odds.
