Luka Doncic Opens About His Fatigue
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks have hit a bit of a rough patch.

The team has lost the last two games and there was pretty poor playing from the squad during those losses.

Luka Doncic has still been stellar, of course, but his numbers have dropped a bit and he’s come back down to Earth with point totals under 30 for the first time this season.

Make no mistake, he’s still in the running for MVP but he’s not doing as superbly as he was.

During Thursday night’s loss to the Washington Wizards, Doncic posted 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, which was obviously a tad lower than what he was putting up before.

This led some people to wonder if Doncic is wiped out after so many great games to start the year.

Instead of denying that claim, Doncic got very candid.

Following the game, Doncic admitted that he was feeling “fatigue” but didn’t allow that to be an excuse for his diminished presence on the court.

This was something that many Mavericks fans feared and it raises a troubling question: how can the team thrive all season and not allow Doncic to get tired?

Keeping Luka Rested

The season is very, very long and the Mavericks have just pushed through the first tenth of it.

It’s obvious that Doncic will need to stay healthy and rested if Dallas is going to make the playoffs again.

That means that head coach Jason Kidd will need to improve the team’s rotation, give Doncic more assistance, and find much more time to bench him and give him time to relax.

The rest of the Mavs will need to step up or else they will exhaust Doncic and ruin their chances.
