Chargers Embrace the Significance of Cowboys MNF Showdown
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers are coming off the earliest bye week any team can have during Week 5. They head into Week 6 with four games under their belt and a 2-2 record.

After digging themselves into a 0-2 hole to start the seaosn, they've rattled off two straight wins and will look for a third straight on Monday night.

Yes, it will barely be the fifth of 17 games for the Bolts, but it's not hyperbole to say this is a must-win against the Dallas Cowboys. It's also not hyperbole to say this outcome could shake up playoff seedings for not only the Chargers but also Dallas.

This game is as big as it could get for a Week 6 matchup, and the Bolts are embracing it.

"It's a big deal. Win a game and we're above .500. If we don't, we're chasing it again," Chargers running back Joshua Kelley said. "It's a big game and we're playing a good team. You saw what happened last week so they're coming in hungry [after a 42-10 loss].

The Cowboys will want to come out with a vengeance after that embarrassing loss they suffered on national television, and the Chargers should come out as crisp as ever off a bye week.

The Cowboys face a 3-3 hole if they drop Monday's game, along with a two-game losing streak and three losses in four games. They will be as desperate as ever, which could spell trouble for LA.

Nonetheless, the Chargers players are taking it as such, and so are coaches like the offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Moore isn't shying away from the challenge and is charging at it head-on.

"They're going to have something to prove but so do we," Kelley added. "We know what's at stake in this league every single week. We just have to come out and play hard. Just play our game."

This game is a must-win as must-win can get in Week 6, and all eyes will be on the Bolts and Cowboys. We'll see how the re-energized Bolts come out of the gates.
