On the same day the door closed on one former CFL star's time on an active NFL roster, another door opened for DeMarquis Gates. The former CFL linebacker was signed onto the Chicago Bears’ active roster Saturday, first shared by NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.

The Bears announced Saturday that they are signing LB DeMarquis Gates to the active roster.  Gates, 27, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi back in May of 2018.

Before Monday Night Football's matchup between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings, the Bears made a pair of roster moves. Linebacker DeMarquis Gates and defensive back Christian Matthew have been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for Monday's game.  Gates has suited up for five games over the last two seasons in Chicago.
