The Atlanta Falcons wrapped up their preseason slate with a 31-13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on the road. This dropped the Falcons to a winless record, closing out this year’s preseason on a disappointing note.
Falcons QB Ben DiNucci posted on social media that the team has released him and is no longer in need of his services. He also posted himself drinking a beer in an airport, noting that it was his seventh time being cut from an NFL team.
Word came on Monday that the Falcons were planning to sign veteran wide receiver James Washington and the team confirmed the move on Tuesday. The Falcons announced Washington's signing and they doubled down on wideouts by also signing Jesse Matthews to their 90-man roster.
Atlanta continues to retool its summer competition at the wide receiver position. The Atlanta Falcons have had less than a week of training camp practices, but they’ve already seen enough of their wide receiver room to decide to bring in two new faces for camp.
The Houston Texans re-signed OT Charlie Heck on Friday, according to Aaron Wilson. The Texans also waived WR Jesse Matthews with a failed physical designation on Friday. Heck, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Texans back in 2020.
