Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Casey DeSmith made 15 saves to lead Team USA to a 3-0 victory over Czechia at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland Thursday in the quarterfinals of the world championship tournament.

In the semifinals Saturday, the U.S. will face the lowest surviving seed after the quarterfinals are complete.

DeSmith is 5-0 and has stopped 113 of 119 shots in the tournament.

Neither of his Pittsburgh Penguins teammates on the U.S. squad, forwards Drew O’Connor and Nick Bonino, made it onto the scoresheet against Czechia.

Matt Coronato, Nick Perbix and Cutter Gauthier scored the Team USA goals.
