The deal marks a homecoming of sorts for Nieto, who previously played for the Avalanche between 2017 and 2020.

Kaut, the 16th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, has yet to make a significant NHL impact.
Training camp cuts continued Thursday morning for the Avalanche. Colorado reassigned five players to the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League and placed six others on waivers.
