AC Milan are confident that they will reach an agreement with Hakan Calhanoglu over a new contract, according to a report.

We reported via our market correspondent Pietro Balzano Prota yesterday that there was a positive meeting yesterday between the Milan management and the agent of Calhanoglu, Gordon Stipic.

The distances between the parties are being closed, and the common desire is to find a meeting point, for which a new appointment will follow.

According to this morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), it was indeed a proactive meeting between the parties but an agreement has not yet been reached.

The “gap” between the request of the Turkish player (about €6million net per year) and the offer of Milan (€3.5m) is quite significant. A meeting point could be around €4.5m, but it is clear now that bonuses will play a fundamental role.

Encouragingly, the intention is to continue together and compared to a few months ago Milan’s attitude towards Calhanoglu has changed.

The growth of the 26-year-old Turkish – who is an increasingly key part of the Rossoneri project – convinced the leadership to include him in the list of special players for whom the €3.5million salary ceiling can be waived.
