Tottenham vs Atlético Madrid: Team News and Predicted Lineups

The first leg of Tottenham vs Atlético ended in a 5-2 defeat for Spurs, who now face the challenge of overcoming a three-goal deficit. The first leg was marked by a disastrous Champions League debut for Antonín Kinský, and a number of individual mistakes. However, Igor Tudor’s side bounced back with a 1–1 draw at Anfield at the weekend, courtesy of a 90th-minute equaliser from Richarlison. While maintaining Premier League status remains the priority, the added belief from the Liverpool result could help them make this tie more competitive.

Atlético were victorious at the weekend, defeating Getafe 1–0. Their momentum is clear, and having built a substantial lead in the first leg, they will be confident of making the quarter-finals. Simeone’s side have a long-standing reputation for holding a lead, and will look to rely on that experience at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Here is the latest team news for Tottenham vs Atlético.

Tottenham Team News

Richarlison is suspended having received his third yellow card of the competition in the first leg.

Destiny Udogie and Lucas Bergvall are set to return, but are not yet ready to start. Speaking at Tuesday’s press conference, Tudor confirmed: “Destiny and Lucas will be on the bench tomorrow. One part of the game, not too much.”

Cristian Romero and João Palhinha suffered a clash of heads against Atlético and missed the Liverpool match. Asked whether they would return, Tudor replied: “Romero is there… he can play. João no. He is doing worse so he will be for the next game.”

Conor Gallagher, who has been dealing with illness, will require further assessment. The manager noted: “We will see tomorrow if he is fit for the bench.”

Souza and Yves Bissouma are not registered in the Champions League squad and are therefore ineligible, while Bissouma also remains sidelined through injury.

João Palhinha, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert, Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison and Mohamed Kudus are all ruled out.

Atlético Team News

The visitors have no suspensions.

Rodri Mendoza, who suffered an ankle injury in a recent La Liga match, remains ruled out.

Rodri Mendoza, Jan Oblak and Pablo Barrios are all ruled out.
