Since the start of the tennis season, there have been several incidents that don’t fail to bring a smile whenever one recalls them.

Whether it’s Novak Djokovic wearing a helmet to save his head from spectators’ bottles or Tomas Machac‘s “Don’t you love me?” question to the crowd in Shanghai when they were cheering mostly for Jannik Sinner, such incidents lighten the mood during tense moments and make tennis more interesting.

Well, not just the lighthearted moments, but even a player’s rant, on court or on social media sometimes are hilarious. Take for instance Holger Rune‘s tweet criticizing the ATP Tour for its post on Sinner.

Then Roberto Carballes Baena ‘s heated altercation with Cameron Norrie simply because the latter was shouting ‘Vamos!’ There were also some Jelena Ostapenko moments because who can forget her on-court antincs and hilarious expressions?

Here is the list of the top three funniest moments in 2024.

Daniil Medvedev told the umpire

When the umpire responded with, “They take the decision based on the weather,” Medvedev’s “Who they? The Illuminati?” has been etched in the memories of fans since then.

Carlos Alcaraz saves himself from bee sting

Carlos Alcaraz played the ‘most unusual match’ in his career at the Indian Wells. During his quarterfinal match against Alexander Zverev, a swarm of bees invaded the court and it was impossible for Alcaraz to stay away from them as he ran wherever he could.

The bees it seemed loved the spidercam. Thanks to the tournament’s beekeeper, the bees were put into a cage. Alcaraz won that match and eventually the tournament.

Corentin Moutet was in rage upon being denied coffee!

Corentin Moutet made a bizarre request to the chair umpire when he was up against Shan Juncheng in the first round of the Madrid Open. During a break, the Frenchman asked the chair umpire to arrange for coffee but he was denied! He then flew into a rage and argued with the umpire but the latter was adamant.

It doesn’t matter where we play, we don’t provide coffee. I cannot bring it to you.

The umpire responded

Moutet in turn remarked, “Am I asking for caviar?” The crowd inside Court 4 enjoyed the scene and laughed when a spectator handed Moutet coffee. Moutet lost that match 6-7, 6-2, 7-6.
