Buffalo Bills President and Chief Executive Officer Russ Brandon has already made it clear that rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel will have to compete for the starting job.
”Our goal coming in was to bring in another bell-cow quarterback to compete for the job [with newly signed Kevin Kolb and holdover Tarvaris Jackson], and we did that with E.J.,” Brandon said, per Yahoo! Sports. “Then we added some new tools in the toolbox.”
I can see Tarvaris Jackson beginning the season as the Bills starter and Manuel taking over around week eight. But ultimately Manuel will be the guy.

One of the most underrated post draft activities is the chase for undrafted free agents. Teams can find diamonds in the rough by combing though their draft boards and finding out who is left.
According to Josh Alper of Profootballtalk.com, in the everlasting quest for talent, the Bills have signed 14 rookie free agents.

2013 NFL Draft Grades – AFC East Buffalo Bills - B+ The Bills made a smart decision when they traded back with the Rams gaining extra draft choices. They surprised almost everyone when they made EJ Manuel the first QB off the board at #16. Manuel has some things to work on, but the Bills [...]
The Buffalo Bills have signed, undrafted Howard linebacker, Keith Pough. Keith was a four-year starter for Howard and ended his career with the most TFL in FCS history. He is not the fastest (4.87 40 time) guy on the field by any stretch but gives you max effort and will not give up on a play. He is most likely being brought in to compete for a reserve role and play special teams...

Chip Kelly is deemed the innovator of the sped up, high tempo offense that is trending NFL wide right now. Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone utilizes his own version of uptempo offense, and it’s mainly responsible for getting him the head job in Buffalo.
Marrone used the #16th pick in NFL Draft on Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel, because he needed someone to drive the...

The Buffalo Bills aren't finished tinkering with their linebackers this offseason.
Buffalo traded Kelvin Sheppard to the Indianapolis Colts for Jerry Hughes on Monday in a swap of linebackers two days after the NFL draft.
Sheppard, a 2011 second-round pick from LSU, has been inconsistent in two seasons in Buffalo. He had 138 tackles and two sacks in 31 games, including 24 starts...
Since being promoted to the position of general manager, Buddy Nix's teams have gone 4-12, 6-10 and finally, 6-10. That's a crappy record that no general manager can actually defend. Why does he still have a job in the NFL? The worst part is 6-10 seems to be the high water mark for the Bills again this year.
Yesterday I wrote that the Browns had essentially given up on...
The Indianapolis Colts have traded rush outside linebacker Jerry Hughes to the Buffalo Bills for inside linebacker Kelvin Sheppard. The Jerry Hughes era is done in Indianapolis. The disapointing first round pick has been shipped off to Buffalo and in return the Colts get a solid inside linebacker in Kelvin Sheppard. Hughes never fully developed with the Colts and never was able...
Clesmon safety Jonathan Meeks was picked by the Buffalo Bills with pick No. 143 in the NFL Draft.

Don’t let the door hit ya, Jerry. Hughes was a highly touted draft pick by the Colts in the 2010 draft, but he’s been a constant disappointment in his stay in Indy. His best production was last season as he seemed to work slightly better in Pagano’s new 3-4 hybrid defensive scheme, but he still drastically under produced. Particularly so for a 1st round draft pick. Good riddance...
BY DAN BEGNOCHEThe Buffalo Bills' 222nd pick in last weekend's NFL Draft was far from their last roster move.General manager Buddy Nix and his crew have been busy the past 48 hours, snatching up more than a dozen undrafted prospects and cutting four off the roster. That's not counting a little switcheroo at linebacker. (photo: Tennessee Journalist, Flickr)Buffalo struck...
After picking EJ Manuel in the NFL Draft, Bills coach Doug Marrone admitted to hurting for his former Syracuse QB, Ryan Nassib, who tumbled to the fourth round.
