CelticsSpa has a great interview with the Celtics new center Vitor Faverani. Faverani, whose nickname, El Hombre Indestructible, has to be one of the best in the league, is unknown to most Celtics fans and so this interview is a great way for Celtics fans to get to know him a little. You can check out the whole interview here: Vitor Faverani talks to CelticsSpa. Below are just a couple of excerpts from the interview. He sounds like a good guy. Hopefully he can make a difference for the Celtics. CS: How were the workouts with the Celtics and what were your impressions while you were doing them? VF: Of all the teams I worked out for, Boston was the one that convinced me more of the possibility of playing there. And it was because of the way they treated me. I was used of the way people treat you in Spain: they talk to you, they are kind, they are smiling, they make jokes all the time...and in Boston I felt home right away. They greeted me and from the first moment there is someone in the organization, Austin, that talked to me in Spanish. We were talking for a while and then they treated me as if I was already playing for them. We did the medical check up and I started thinking that it wasn't normal that they were treating me so well. It was unbelievable. ' As for the workout itself it was great. It was very unstressful. There were several coaches watching me practice, but there wasn't any pressure at all in it. I didn't feel like I had to score the ball because they treated me so well that it was impossible to miss a shot, you see? I was joking all the time with one of the coaches about this and they made me feel comfortable and at home all the time. CS: With which player are you more excited to play with next season? VF: To me, the player that I would have loved to play with is Kevin Garnett. His physical abilities and everything what he could do on the court: his shooting, ball handling, jump, playing face to the basket...everything. He is an amazing player. I didn't know that he was about to be traded to Brooklyn when I was working out for the Celtics. I really would have loved to play with him. I wanted to greet him and be with such a legendary player for the Celtics. As for the players that are in the current roster, the one I am trully excited to play with is Rajon Rondo. I can't wait to play with him and build some chemistry with him on the court and play together. [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics envision a key role for Kris Humphries

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. For the record, was told on Draft Day that Boston liked Humphries more than just as an expiring contract. Ainge a fan. — NetsDaily.com (@NetsDaily) August 1, 2013 Source: #Knicks had interest in Kris Humphries...

Jordan Crawford Playing in the Drew League

I have to admit that I'm not the biggest Jordan Crawford fan. I think he's too much ego and not enough team and he didn't do anything to change my mind last season on the Celtics. I wasn't impressed by his socks with pot leaves on them and I wasn't impressed when he tried to start something with Carmelo Anthony in the playoffs. KG has earned the right to trash...

A Few Kelly Olynyk Random Thoughts

Me and @KellyOlynyk watching @CanBball national team practice. pic.twitter.com/txl0Q0BOy5 — Steve Nash (@SteveNash) August 3, 2013 Celtics rookie Kelly Olynyk was unable to play with the Canadian National team this offseason due to a case of plantar fasciitis, but that hasn't stopped him from attending the practices and offering any advice and help he can give. “Everyone...

Report: Pistons could eventually try to use Brandon Jennings to acquire Rajon Rondo

It's the middle of summer, and to be honest..the Celtics hot stove has cooled quite a bit. Pierce, KG and Doc are long gone, the draft seems like ages ago, and the Celtics had their quietest free agency period in years. It has basically become a waiting game. Waiting to see if the team makes a salary cap cutting deal prior to training camp. Waiting to see if Rajon Rondo is healthy...

Report: Detroit Pistons still interested in Rajon Rondo

Nathaniel S. Butler/NBAE/Getty According to a report from Brett Pollakoff of the Pro Basketball Talk blog on NBCSports.com, the Detroit Pistons still have intentions on making a splash even after acquiring athletic point guard Brandon Jennings. It has been reported that the team still has interest in acquiring Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. This is according to Gary Washburn...

Rajon Rondo Player Profile

Playing just 38 games last year due to a an unfortunate season-ending ACL injury in January vs the Hawks, Rajon Rondo still managed to do enough to leave fans and teammates itching for more. In the first nine games of the 2012-2013 season, Rondo had two games of 20+ assists. Rondo went on to tie John Stockton for the second-longest span of double-digit assist games (37). He even...

SQ#58—Why No OTA’s for NBA

As I contemplate the Green silence (and if you think the Celtics’ traffic drops off, the rest of the league is a wasteland), it occurs to me that the NFL fans are digesting reports of OTA’s (offseason team activities I believe) in the months leading up to their training camps.  Which beggars the question, why no OTA’s for NBA teams?  Well for one thing, I think they are...

Doc Rivers thinks Paul Pierce's trade to the Nets "may give him more life"

In an interview with former Celtics head coach Doc Rivers, Doc expressed that the move to Brooklyn could possibly rejuvenate Paul Pierce and "give him more life." From RealGM: "I think in some ways, it may give him more life," Rivers said. "But I just think it's tough for him personally. Like he said in the press conference, he wanted to stay and...

Your Morning Dump..Where The NBA Schedule Is Released

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Well folks, if you’re looking for Celtics “news” this morning, I can’t help you. Predicting the Celtics Week 1 W-L, Oct. 30-Nov.6

Earlier this afternoon the NBA released the schedule for the 2013-14 campaign and, if you're a Boston Celtics fan, there were more disappointments than anything else. For starters, the guys in green are only slated to appear on national television three times this year, all of which will be aired on ESPN. What's more, the first month of 2013-14 will prove to be a rocky road...

Rajon Rondo rumors might last to trade deadline

As Rajon Rondo continues to rehab from a partially torn anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in late January trade speculation involving the All-Star point guard will continue to have a life — possibly up to the trade deadline next year. The Celtics are rebuilding after the departures of Kevin Garnett Paul Pierce and Jason Terry. Coach Doc Rivers left to coach the Los...

Your Morning Dump… Where history is not on the side of Brad Stevens

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. We all know the primary issue: Can a college coach jump into the 2013 NBA without any kind of NBA experience? Brad Stevens has none whatsoever. He did not play in the league. He has not been an assistant coach...

Report: Pistons could still be looking to acquire Celtics Rondo

Last week the Detroit Pistons turned heads by trading three players including Brandon Knight to Milwaukee for point guard Brandon Jennings who’ll eventually sign a three-year $24-million deal to play home games at the Palace. So the Pistons are done making moves right? Right? Not so fast at least according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe. He suggested in Sunday’s paper...

Doc Rivers thinks trade to Brooklyn could rejuvenate Paul Pierce

Doc Rivers could tell Paul Pierce was emotionally hurt trying to come to grips with the notion that he no longer was wanted in Boston. Pierce bled Celtics green courtesy of playing 15 years with the franchise that plucked him out of Kansas with the 10th selection in the 1998 draft. He was attached to the Celtics a part of the team's fabric. But the proverbial umbilical cord...

SQ13#55—The Smolder To Be Mediocre

The stories are legendary of players with such an inner drive that they elevated themselves from good to great.  Bird and Russell, Jordan, Bryant, Olajuwon, Garnett—all these players improved by leaps and bounds after entering the pros, and were known for their dedication to offseason training.  All had physical gifts, but so do hundreds of others that were (or should have been...
