Hendrickcars.com returns to the No. 5 Chevrolet this weekend as Kasey Kahne lines up for the seventh race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Hendrickcars.com is kicking off a series of fan events on Monday, Oct. 29. The No. 5 Hendrickcars.com show car will make stops at the Hendrickcars.com retail store in Hickory, N.C., on Monday and at Hendrickcars.com Charlotte on Tuesday. For more information on these events and more, visit www.facebook.com/Hendrickcars. POINTS WITH FOUR TO GO: With four races remaining in the Chase, Kahne ranks fifth in the standings and trails leader Brad Keselowski by 30 points. Kahne’s previous career-best in the championship standings at this point in the season happened in 2006, when he was ranked eighth with four races to go. QUICK IN QUALIFYING: After scoring his fourth pole position of the season last weekend at Kansas Speedway, Kahne now ranks tied for first with Mark Martin for NASCAR Sprint Cup poles in 2012. Kahne has earned the first-place starting spot this year on a superspeedway, a short track and two intermediate tracks. He ranks as the season’s best qualifier with an average starting spot of 8.5. KAHNE AT MARTINSVILLE: In 17 Cup starts at Martinsville Speedway, Kahne has one top-five finish and two top-10s. He scored his best result at the short track in April 2005 when he rallied from a 35th-place starting spot to finish second. The driver of the No. 5 Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet scored the pole position at the half-mile oval in April and has qualified sixth or better six times at the Virginia short track. CHASSIS CHOICE: For the Oct. 28 race at Martinsville, crew chief Kenny Francis has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 5-651. Kahne raced this car at Martinsville earlier this year, capturing the pole position and running inside the top five before encountering an engine issue. SHORT TRACK STATS: In 53 starts on tracks less than one mile in length, Kahne has three pole positions, one win, eight top-five finishes and 16 top-10s. He finished 12th in his most recent short track event at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway in September. HENDRICK BESTS AT MARTINSVILLE: Hendrick Motorsports has recorded its most wins and top-10 finishes at Martinsville. The organization has 18 victories there, most recently reaching Victory Lane at the short track in March 2009. In October 2011, three Hendrick Motorsports drivers finished seventh or better to give the organization 100 career top-10s at Martinsville. That figure marked a team-best for Hendrick, and combined with Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s third-place finish there in April to give the team 101 top-10 results, more than any other team has acquired at any Cup track in NASCAR history. MARTINSVILLE DUO: Jeff Gordon leads active drivers at the Virginia short track in the following statistical categories: wins (seven), top-five finishes (25), top-10s (31) and laps led (3,423). Jimmie Johnson ranks second with six victories. KASEY KAHNE, DRIVER, NO. 5 HENDRICKCARS.COM CHEVROLET (ON RETURNING TO MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY.): “Our car was really fast at Martinsville in the spring. Even though we had some bad luck, it was a big week for the team to get the pole and show that speed. We went on our best streak of the year after that, so I hope we can go back and get the win this time.”
