In less than 48 hours, the Celtics and Nets will finalize their mega-deal, and Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett will officially be gone. It's going to be tough to see them go, but at the very least most Celtics fans understand the deal. Boston needs to rebuild, and picking up three first round picks in exchange for two guys on the wrong side of 35 is a good deal for the long term future of the team.
However, those same fans will not be nearly as understanding if the team now turns around and deals the only other superstar on the roster, Rajon Rondo, this summer. Unlike the aging Pierce and Garnett, Rondo is only 27 years old, and still very much in the midst of his prime.
As of now Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens are saying all of the right things, that Rondo isn't going anywhere, that he's the guy they're going to build around.
But that doesn't mean they're not looking.
Dallas has reportedly come calling, and Detroit has interest in Rondo after landing his...

The Boston Celtics took out a full-page ad Friday in the Boston Globe to thank Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett after the blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets was finalized. The ad showed photos of Garnett lifting the
Rajon Rondo was asked at his basketball camp in Kentucky Thursday if he’d ever consider joining the Heat. His answer was simple, “I will never play for the Miami Heat,” said the Celtics guard to the delight of the crowd.

I had a quick opportunity to catch up with new Celtics head coach 1-on-1. He’s a busy guy, but he was nice enough to carve out 5 minutes to talk to me about a few things like his first exposure to the NBA game as head coach, Rajon Rondo, Kelly Olynyk, and the one play in basketball that gets him the most excited.

While this year’s NBA free agency is winding down, they are already rumors about next years’ NBA free agency. Carmelo Anthony will be a free agent next summer and there already rumors floating around out there that Anthony could land with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Anthony future in New York all depends how much help the Knicks put around Anthony. The knicks need another star player...
The trade is finally official today. Classy move by the organization, I'd expect nothing less.

With all the salary cap space the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to have in 2014 after losing Dwight Howard to the Houston Rockets, there has been some speculation that they could make a run at a big name free agent like Carmelo Anthony. Anthony and Bryant have a close relationship, and there have been [...]
Celtics thank Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in today’s Boston Globe.
This is pretty great.
As expected the Heat have to be favorites for the NBA title next year, but the Pierce and KG to Brooklyn trade does make things interesting. A starting five of Brook Lopez, KG, Pierce, Joe Johnson and Deron Williams is one of the best starting five in the league and could give the Heat a run for their money. They presumably would pose serious match-up problems with this big lineup...
Yesterday, while attending Boston's summer league victory, Jeff Green and Courtney Lee sat down to speak about Paul Pierce's and Kevin Garnett's legacies. Here's what they had to say.
Lee on wishing Pierce had retired a Celtic:
“As a player and as a fan watching him growing up, you kind of wish that he did. But it’s a business. The only thing I can say is it’s...
The Los Angeles Lakers waived forward Metta World Peace via the amnesty rule Thursday, making him available to sign with the New York Knicks. Teams with room under the salary cap have 48 hours to put a claim in for World Peace before he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
Andray Blatche and Kevin Garnett have a rocky history, filled with insults and general disrespect.
Blatche and Garnett famously feuded in 2010, but patched things up last season.
“I can say Kevin, he surprised me,” Blatche said. “We were playing one game against each other, I believe it was last year, in Brooklyn. I was playing against him and he said, ‘Hey man, just keep...
ESPNs famous “Body Issue” landed today, and it featured quite a few basketball stars. The poses are always a little suspect (remember that part in Austin Powers where they’re constantly holding stuff in front of their junk? That was a bit more natural), but I’ll say it, the bods are chiseled. Take John Wall for instance – guy’s injured a lot, but he clearly spends his...
