DeMarcus Ware said he was misinterpreted in April when he seemed to imply during an interview on Sirius XM's NFL Radio that it's time for Tony Romo to "put up or shut up." The Dallas Cowboys defensive end wasn't only talking about Romo and the quarterback's new six-year, 108 million contract extension. Ware said he was referring to everyone on the Cowboys roster. Recently, Ware was again asked about Romo becoming the highest-paid player in franchise history. "I think regardless of the dollar figure, it's who you're playing for. It's the Dallas Cowboys," Ware said, according to USAToday's Chris Strauss. "You've gotta be consistent. You know the tradition of what they've done in the past. Now can you make that future of the same type of winning. He's got some big shoes to fill so he's gotta look at it that way. If you're in that position, you're deserving of whatever you get. You've just got to prove it week in and week out." In another recent interview, Ware was asked about the growth he has witnessed in Romo, considering the two have played together for the past eight seasons. "When you talk about being consistent, I think Romo has been consistent year after year," Ware told Yahoo.com's Doug Farrar. "But when you talk about how many playoff wins he's had, there haven't been that many. That's what's going to really take him to the next level. He's got a nice deal, he's solidified with the team, so now it's like, Okay, let's go get those playoff wins, and these Super Bowls.' That's how the Cowboys should be, and how they've always been. It's time for a turnaround." Romo has one career playoff victory, the only postseason victory for the Cowboys since 1996. Follow Jon Machota on Twitter: @jonmachota
