From Bob's Blitz:

Sacred Heart-Griffin High School (Ill.) pitcher Ryne Elvers hit a bird with a pitch during one of his team's baseball games last week.

Elvers, a sophomore pitcher, tossed 5 2/3 innings to get his third win in four decisions last Wednesday. According to The State Journal-Register, Elvers hit the bird on an 0-1 pitch to Robbie Cooper in the fifth inning. The bird miraculously survived, though it did lose some feathers.
