The Dodgers front office is working diligently to get all of their 40 draft picks signed before the July 13 deadline. The Dodgers officially have 19 out of their 40 picks signed, so with a little less than a month a way, the Dodgers have just a tidbit shy of half of all their picks signed.

The Daily News is reporting that the Dodgers have signed Onelkis Garcia to a contract, though the terms are undisclosed. Garcia was reportedly going to have major signability issues, a major hurdle most MLB teams prefer to not deal with. The Dodgers took a risk, a risk that has now come full circle. Garcia fell in the draft a bit because of the risk involved with him, the Dodgers were ready to capitalize on the opportunity.

Jesmuel Valentin, the Dodgers first round supplemental pick has been signed for his slot value of $984,700. Valentin remains the most notable player signed so far, as Corey Seager remains unsigned. The Dodgers are still very optimistic that they will lock up their first overall pick in the 2012 draft.

Here are the rest of the draft picks that have signed so far.

Ross Stripling
Joey Curletta
Zach Babbit
Zachary Bird
Theo Alexander
Jeremy Rathjen
Jordan Hershiser
Darnell Sweeney
Matt Reckling
Owen Jones
Lindsey Caughel
Paul Hoenecke
Jake Hermsen
John Cannon
Corey Embree
Austin Cowen
John Sgromolo

That leaves 21 draftees unsigned but the good news is the Dodgers did well in their first 19 signings to stay at or under their slotted amount, depending of course on the terms of the Garcia signing. The Dodgers have about $200K leftover after the smoke settled on the first 19 picks. So that's a nice little cushion in the draft signing wallet. That extra cushion will go a long way in helping to get the rest of the remaining picks signed over the next 26 days.
