A San Francisco starter lasted more than three innings, and the Giants finally got a win against Cincinnati this year, as San Francisco beat the Reds 5-3 in Game 2 of the doubleheader on Tuesday.
For the second straight game, the Giants got on the board first. Despite the lackluster offense of the past two days, this line-up proved its resiliency.
“I think we’ve just got a group of guys who are always gonna be determined,” Pence said of their ability to forget the first game and focus on the second. “It’s who we are. We’re gonna keep coming back, keep coming at you.”
Batting first and playing as the road team, Tony Abreu singled with one out in the top of the first. Reds starter Greg Reynolds then hit Buster Posey, and Pablo Sandoval drove in both runners with a double. Hunter Pence followed that up with an RBI single to give San Francisco a quick 3-0 lead. They added another run in the second with some good, fundamental baseball. Brandon Crawford led off the inning with a double, m...

Brian Wilson is set to start doing the rounds for interested major league teams. The San Francisco Giants have recently seen a rash of injuries in the bullpen and have not seen the dominance we have grown to love and admire by the entire staff. Part of that staple used to be Wilson aka ‘The Beard.’
The Giants have missed his presence just as much as his arm during this tough...

If you ask most Yankee fans about Chad Gaudin, who now pitches for the San Francisco Giants, most would shiver. And yet, he was not that particularly bad for the Yankees. And the Yankees were just one of the teams for which Chad Gaudin has pitched. He has long been one of those fringe Major League players that you do not think much about unless he is pitching for your team. But...
Can someone get over to AT&T Park and give the grounds crew a hand with right angles?
The line-painters at the San Francisco Giants’ home park had some egg on their face Wednesday night after messing up what would seem to be the rudimentary affair of painting the lines on the baseball diamond. The batter’s box at AT&T Park was noticeably skewed, with the right-hand side...
Former San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson will work out for scouts Thursday in Los Angeles, CBS Sports reports.

According to CBS Sports, Wilson worked out for the Mets in January but wasn'...
Could the most interesting closer in baseball be returning to the black-and-orange?
On Monday, July 22, 15 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career, Brian Wilson threw off the mound at USF. He was caught by Giants bullpen catcher Billy Hayes and studied by pitching coach Dave Righetti.

Is Brian Wilson headed back to the San Francisco Giants?
It's a possibility, anyway.
“We’ve kept the door open the whole time,” assistant GM Bobby Evans told the San Francisco Chronicle.
The three-time All-Star threw twice recently at the University of San Francisco in front of Giants pitching coach Dave Righetti and bullpen catcher Bill Hayes. The team thinks Wilson...
The San Francisco Giants began with a promising injury update but ended with worrisome news about Jeremy Affeldt on Saturday night.
Good news first: Ryan Vogelsong threw to Shawon Dunston and Roberto Kelly with results that satisfied manager Bruce Bochy at AT&T Park. After 35 off the mound and 40 in the bullpen, Vogelsong said he felt good. He could start pitching to hitters...
You know, I usually end up in last place because of my personal reluctance to trade based on hot and cold streaks. Like in real life, I figure you shouldn’t do that too much, but I probably could get a bit better at it.
But the Giants…well, there you’ve got a next season to be thinking about. But is it time to give up on this season? And is there anything people want in...
Tim Lincecum got shelled, Bronson Arroyo was brilliant, and the Reds scored in each of the first seven innings on their way to route the Giants 11-0 in the first game of the series.
It didn’t take long for the Reds to end Lincecum’s bid for another no-hitter, as Shin-Soo Choo led off the game with a double, and Derrick Robinson followed it up with a single. Lincecum struck out...
The Reds split a doubleheader with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night.
