The San Francisco Giants have re-acquired right-hander Eric Hacker, according to Sosnick Cobbe Sports.

Hacker, 28, spent the 2010 season on the Giants’ Triple-A squad, where he went 16-8 with a 4.51 ERA, 1.467 WHIP, 7.0 SO/9 rate and 3.4 BB/9 rate in 29 starts. That season, he became the only Giants’ Triple-A player to be named to the 2010 All-PCL team and was recognized by Pacific Coast League managers and media as the top right-handed starter.

The Duncanville, Texas native became a free agent after the ’10 season and signed with the Minnesota Twins. In 26 games at Triple-A Rochester, Hacker was 7-14 with a 6.10 ERA, 1.555 WHIP, 6.5 SO/9 rate, and 3.3 BB/9 rate. He made two appearances with the Twins and has just five total major league appearances under his belt.

Hacker isn’t expected to be a part of the Giants’ big league plans, but will instead provide some pitching depth at the Triple-A level for San Francisco.
