Former pitcher Jack Morris is returning to the Toronto Blue Jays as a television analyst. Sportsnet announced Tuesday that Morris will provide analysis on its radio broadcasts and website, as well as make appearances on game telecasts and the show ''Blue Jays Central.'' Morris was a member of Blue Jays teams that won consecutive World Series titles in 1992 and `93. The right-hander had an AL-best 21 wins in 1992, becoming the club's first 20-game winner. The 57-year-old Morris retired after the 1994 season. He has spent time as a color analyst for the Minnesota Twins and a guest on Detroit Tigers broadcasts, two other teams he played for during his 18-year career. ''I'm thrilled to be joining the Sportsnet team and to be returning to Canada,'' Morris said in a statement. ''I've had a lot of great experiences here and am looking forward to this next chapter. ''This has been one of the most exciting offseasons that Blue Jays fans have ever seen, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to be covering this amazing team for the next three years.'' Morris will make his final appearance on the Hall of Fame ballot next year. He received 67.7 percent of the vote this year, falling short of the 75 percent needed for election by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Dombrowski: Morris, Trammell belong in Hall

DETROIT -- He doesn't have a vote, but if he did, Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski would cast his to put Jack Morris and Alan Trammell into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Toronto Blue Jays: Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey named as Blue Jays starter on opening day

The Toronto Blue Jays have made a flurry of moves this offseason and added the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner R. A. Dickey as one of those big moves. Dickey, 38, had a remarkable 2012 regular season, posting a 20-6 record along with a 2.73 ERA. Dickey struck out 230 batters in 233 2/3 innings as well last year. This move was confirmed by Shi Davidi on Twitter, â€...

Why the Omar Vizquel signing is my favorite move this offseason

I, just like many other Angel fans, was extremely surprised to see that the Angels had just recently signed ex-Blue Jay and future Hall of Famer Omar Vizquel as a “roving infield coach” to the organization. The 1- time Gold Glover is known for his incredible talent at the shortstop position, cementing himself as one of the best fielding shortstops of all time. Vizquel will likely...

Tick tock

Like you, I grow increasingly frustrated with the long delays between posts. I'm going to have to break away from my love for long elaborate high-content posts because they never get finished. I have, on my spreadsheet, most of the data for a mega-post featuring a player by player comparison of all the teams in the AL East.  And yet, it seems sort of silly to do that much work...
