The decision to play a 16thseason with the White Sox is in Paul Konerko’s hands, general manager Rick Hahn indicated Tuesday at the GM meetings.
Hahn and manager Robin Ventura met with Konerko last week in Phoenix to discuss the veteran first baseman’s feelings about whether he wants to play for the Sox for one more season, retire or play for another team. The Sox captain continues to weigh his options, Hahn said.
Konerko’s status with the Sox appeared to be in question late last month when the team signed Cuban first baseman Jose Abreu to join a roster that also includes first baseman/designated hitter Adam Dunn. But Hahn said Tuesday that he thinks there is an opening for Konerko on the team next season should he want one.
“It’s a matter of everyone’s comfort level and him getting convinced that that’s what he wants to do,” Hahn said.

With the exception of four players, everybody on the White Sox roster is available in an attempt to quickly rebound from a 99-loss campaign.
Aside from starting pitcher Chris Sale, White Sox general manager Rick Hahn declined to comment on the availability of specific players at the GM meetings on Tuesday. But multiple major league executives have confirmed Hahn and the White Sox...
The relentlessly Canadian Marc Hulet published earlier today his first organizational prospect list of the 2013-14 offseason — in this case, for the Chicago White Sox.

Coming into the 2013 season, Marcus Semien was a nothing-special prospect in a not-so-good Chicago White Sox system. Eight months later, the system isn’t markedly better, but the 23-year-old infielder is.
A sixth-round pick in 2011 out of Cal-Berkeley, Semien broke out this year. Playing in Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte, he hit a robust .284/.401/.479 and earned a...
Welcome to the first of 30 Top 10 prospects lists that will be featured on FanGraphs between now and March.
I’ve spent every offseason ranking prospects at FanGraphs since 2008, and I truly believe this year’s collection of top prospects lists is the best yet. Along with reading about 15 prospects for each club, you’ll receive a future ceiling grade projection (20-80) for...
The main positional question marks for your Chicago White Sox are all related to the infield. That certainly holds true for the bottom of the diamond, where the immediate future of the catcher position seems to be completely up in the air. So here's a look at all of Rick Hahn's options, both internal and external.

Free agent outfielder Curtis Granderson may be on the radar of the Chicago White Sox now that he has declined a qualifying offer from the New York Yankees on Monday.
As reported by Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com, Granderson is expected to receive at least $45 million over the next three seasons and perhaps more if several teams get into a bidding frenzy for him. But the large salary...
