Tony Jackson of ESPNLA is confirming that the Dodgers have officially placed Ronald Belisario on the restricted list. Belisario spent a portion of the season last year on the restricted list due to reportedly being in a substance abuse program. This year, his agent, Paul Kinzer is reporting Belisario is having Visa problems. The latest news is Belisario may miss a significant part of the season, possibly the whole season. Putting Belisario on the restricted list allows the Dodgers to keep him there for two years, and while he is on the list he is not occupying a space on the 40-man roster. This strategic move could lead to a non-roster signing like Jeff Weaver. Weaver knows the ropes, and seems to be a logical choice, but it's a little too early to tell just yet. The loss of Belisario is no doubt a blow to the bullpen. The good news is the Dodgers have a lot of options and a decent amount of depth to where this will likely be a non-issue.
