The Opening Day loss didn’t faze the San Francisco Giants. They went on to take the next two games to win the series. Madison Bumgarner pitched a gem against the Dodgers in game two of the season, and Tim Lincecum struggled through five innings yesterday. He walked seven Dodgers and was obviously having trouble with his command. However, it was good enough to get the win. Pablo Sandoval not only got the first hit of the season for the Giants on opening day, but he also hit the first homer for the G-men last night as well. Hunter Pence also showed his power by hitting a solo shot later in the game. Welcome To The Show Infielder Nick Noonan made his Major League Debut last night with an AB late in the game. He wasted no time at the plate, and grounded out to second on the first pitch. I’m sure he was looking for something he can hit and got it right away. Don’t worry Nick, your first career hit will come soon! Down On The Farm The Fresno Grizzlies (Triple-A Affiliate) are sending Yusm...

Madison Bumgarner Dazzles Against the Dodgers

At the end of last year Madison Bumgarner was not his normal self as he struggled through inconsistent mechanics. He spent all offseason and spring working on it and last night that hard work paid dividends. Over at Bay Area Sports Guy, I took a look at how good Bumgarner was last night: Bumgarner cruised through eight innings, giving up just a pair of doubles, walking none...

A true artist on the hill, Giants hurler Madison Bumgarner may capture the Cy Young Award this autumn in ‘The Paris of the West’

Stifling Los Angeles over eight brilliant innings, Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner led San Francisco to a 3-0 victory on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium. The 23-year-old Bumgarner, who San Francisco took out of high school with the 10th pick in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft, is now 37-30 with a 3.15 ERA over 88 games since debuting with the Giants in September 2009. Although the...

Lincecum (1-0) threw 91 pitches in five innings, but limited the Dodgers to two unearned runs and three...

Not since his very first career start against the Philadelphia Phillies and Game 1 of the 2010 World Series has there been a more anticipated start for San Francisco Giants starter Tim Lincecum then last night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Coming off his worse season as a professional pitcher, many eyes were glued to the television set wondering how he would look in his first...

Lincecum v Beckett v Halladay

How the mighty have fallen. In the past, these three pitchers have shown that they have Cy Young caliber talent. Beckett has the fewest credentials of any of these workhorses, but that still includes a 2ndplace Cy Young finish and plenty of other accolades. Many fantasy owners invested in these SP hoping that they could rekindle some of that past magic and harness it into fantasy...

MLB Recap: San Francisco Giants pick up first win of season with 3-0 victory against Los Angeles Dodgers

The San Francisco Giants came into today looking for revenge against the hated rival Los Angeles Dodgers and they got exactly that. After starting off the season being shutout 4-0 by Clayton Kershaw, San Francisco sent 23-year-old Madison Bumgarner to the hill and he delivered in a big way. Bumgarner (1-0) shutout the Dodgers offense for 8 innings while only allowing 2 base runners...

Dugout Digest - two falling aces

Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum both made their first starts of the year last night, and all eyes were on the pair. Their performances left a lot to be desired. Halladay struck out nine in 3 1/3 innings against the Braves, tallying 14 whiffs in the process, but was done after 95 pitches in those 3 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits while walking three and allowing a pair of...
