Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig ran into the wall at Coors Field on Wednesday night in a 10-8 Dodgers victory against the Colorado Rockies that made just about every Dodgers fan cringe. Puig has been such a vital part of the recent success of the team that it is tough to think of any time that they might be without him.
In the fifth inning Puig awkwardly made contact with the wall after catching a drive off the bat of Nolan Arenado. As he was coming down from leaping in the air, his left hip hit the wall. The team announced that x-rays were negative and he will be day-to-day with a bruised left hip and tightness in his left thigh.
Puig actually took an at-bat in the top of the sixth and knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly but didn’t come out to the field in the bottom of the inning. Hopefully that is a sign that he is alright and just will need a day or two to get over the bruised leg and hip.
It was just announced today that Puig was not only the rookie of the month for June but also the player of the month in the National League. The team is now 17-11 since calling Puig up on June 3rd and has moved into second place after being in fifth place from May 5th until Tuesday.Tweet
