It’s been 20 days since UFC president Dana White publicly thrashed reigning light heavyweight champ Jon Jones (Pictured), yet the two sides remain radio silent as Jones prepares to make his fourth title defense in less than 12 months.

Although White questioned his golden boy’s championship mettle, adding he was “disgusted” with Jones’ decision to decline a last-second scrap with Chael Sonnen to salvage UFC 151, the 25-year-old superstar has put the lambasting in his rear-view mirror.

“Was I surprised by the way he talked about me and kind of belittled me? I was surprised by it, but at the same time, I’m educated by it, forever better by it and I’m over it,” Jones stated during Tuesday’s conference call. “I’m actually getting more and more excited to talk to Dana and get this behind us.

“Me as an individual athlete and the UFC in having a mainstream athlete, a guy that’s trying to break down walls to mainstream America – I can’t do that having a problem with the UFC. So I’m totally over it, ready to talk to Dana and get past this.”

Jones and White are slated for a one-on-one chat next week. It is expected to take place prior to next Saturday’s shootout against Vitor Belfort. Oh, to be a fly on that wall…

One thing was made crystal clear during yesterday’s call, neither of them are going to apologize for anything that was previously said about UFC 151′s debacle. That was probably a given with White, but Jones is standing firm, as well.

“They asked me to put my livelihood on the line, to put my belt on the line,” Jones added. “I turned it down like many smart champions would. Think about it: Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao. If Pacquiao gets hurt, you think he would fight [Miguel] Cotto last minute? No. No one would’ve done it. No one. And the guys who say they would’ve done it? They’re not me, I guess.”

Jones defends his throne against “The Phenom” at UFC 153.
