A specific date or location has yet to be announced for the UFC’s debut on FX, but on Thursday the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion was able to confirm the show’s featured attraction. Lightweights Melvin Guillard (Pictured) and Jim Miller will meet in a three-round shootout this January.
Guillard was on a torrid run before Joe Lauzon served up an upset special at UFC 136. Many believed if “The Young Assassin” could have left the October scrap victorious that he would have been next in line for a shot at Frankie Edgar’s title. Guillard had won his last five fights prior to the 47-second submission loss.
Speaking of snapped winning streaks, before Guillard’s defeat, some argued Miller would have gotten next dibs at the 155-pound crown had he beaten Ben Henderson at “UFC on Versus 5.” Unfortunately for Miller, Bendo ended his seven-fight win streak in dominating fashion.
According to the trusty rumor mill, the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee has emerged as the frontrunner to host the January 20th shindig.
Here are the athletes slated to participate in the event:
