The UFC continues to ride the wave of its fox deal with another free card on Fuel TV (US) and Sportsnet (Canada).  Diego Sanchez (3.75) vs. Jake Ellenburger (1.23) The main event features a solid welterweight bout which could have title implications.  Ellenburger seems to be on the way to a title shot and a victory over Sanchez could get him there.  Ellenburger is coming off a great win over Jake Sheilds, whom he KO’ed in 53 seconds.   Ellenburger is a strong wrestling with good hands.  His wins over Sean Pierson, Carlos Rocha, John Howard and Mike Pyle help his resume.  Sanchez has two straight wins over Martin Kampmann and Paulo Thiago.  Sanchez hasn’t fought in almost a year and that could play into it.  The odds on this fight are staggering to me.  Sanchez is a 3.75 underdog (he was 3.2 on Sunday).  I don’t see Sanchez finishing Ellenburger but if his cardio is where it normally is, I think he can take the decision. Prediction: Diego Sanchez via decision Where I am putting my money: Diego Sanchez…even if I thought he was going to lose I would put some coin on him. Stefan Struve (2.25) vs. Dave Herman (1.57) The co-feature features the lanky Dutchman in Struve and Pee Wee.  Struve is a very good submission specialist and also has taken a lot of punishment in his career.  Herman, had a successful UFC debut over John-Olav Einemo.  Struve will have to submit Herman to win this match and he is coming off a big win over Pat Barry.  I just feel Herman will pour on the punishment and be able to win atleast 2 out of 3 rounds for the win.  This is a close fight and if you put some money on Struve, I wouldn’t tell you not too. Prediction: Dave Herman via decision Where I am putting my money: Likely nowhere, but I might drop a few dollars on Herman. Aaron Simpson (1.8) vs. Ronny Markes (1.9) Aaron Simpson is a strong wrestler who has fed of lower level competition in the UFC beating Ed Herman, Tom Lawlor, Mario Miranda, Brad Tavares and Eric Schafer (and is riding a three fight win streak), but has struggle against top level talent losing to Mark Munoz and Chris Leben.   Ronny Markes won his first UFC fight against Karlos Vemola at Light Heavyweight.  He has also defeated Paulo Filho in his career.  I am not sold on Aaron Simpson and I feel this I a fight that Markes can win.  Once again I don’t think either man finishes the fight, but I like Markes via decision with stuffing the takedowns and doing better on his feet. Prediction: Ronny Markes Where I am putting my money: Ronny Markes – Good value in this fight Stipe Miocic (1.2) vs. Philip De Fries (4.00) A battle of two prospects here who did not fare that well in their debuts (despite getting the win).  Miocic won a lackluster decision against Joey Beltran after coming into the UFC with much hype (which is likely why his payout is so low).  De Fries beat Rob Broughton via decision in his debut without much fan fare.   The interesting thing about this fight is the line.  I don’t really believe with such limited fights that this line makes a lot of sense.  I like De Fries in this match via TKO. Prediction:  Philip De Fries via TKO Where I am putting my Money: De Fries Walel Watson (3.35) vs. TJ Dillashaw (1.28) TJ Dillashaw makes his first bought since the Ultimate Fighter.  After losing to John Dodson at the finale Dillashaw continued to train strong according to his training partners.  Dillashaw should flashes of brilliance in his Ultimate Fighter career.  I believe he will get the TKO over Watson. Prediction: TJ Dillashaw via TKO Where I am putting my Money: No Where Prediction Record: 2-3 Enjoy the show!
