Found January 23, 2013 on Beyond The Buzzer:
Kyrie Irving’s stat line on Tuesday night vs. the Celtics: 40 points on 16-24 shooting, 15 fourth quarter points and a 95-90 win. Avery Bradley, who only guarded Kyrie Irving briefly as he was mostly Rajon Rondo’s cover, took to Twitter to let the world know Irving would not have scored 40 if he had been guarding him. In a tweet that since has been deleted, Bradley proclaimed: “Nobody will score 40 on m[e] unless they take 40 shots”. So the Celtics have been a mess lately and Bradley is going to basically call out Rondo’s defense for the reason Irving went off. Seeing as it set a firestorm on Twitter, Bradley deleted the tweet and followed up with a “No shots at anybody. Its confidence.” Whether he meant anything or not, Twitter is not really the appropriate way to address a teammates performance. Original tweet as preserved by Toronto Raptors reporter, Holly Mackenzie: Well, then. RT @avery_bradley: Please stop sayin he gave me 40. Nobody will ever score 40 on me unless they take 40 shots — Holly MacKenzie (@stackmack) January 23, 2013 No shots at anybody. Its confidence — Avery Bradley (@Avery_Bradley) January 23, 2013

Why we watch Paul Pierce

I did a little writing for The Classical series “Why We Watch,” focusing on Paul Pierce’s years of faking us all out.   Here’s a little bit of it: Your eyes tell you that Pierce is not doing those things. Even as he backpedals and blows kisses to the Madison Square Garden crowd after yet another masterful one-man Broadway show, your eyes tell you he’s not shooting as well...

It was just a case of bad luck. The Celtics have had their own problems recently. After their loss in Detroit, Doc...

Paul Pierce not named to All-Star team

Eastern Conference All-Star reserves: Chris Boshtrich, Tyson Chandler, Joakim Noah, Paul George, Luol Deng, Jrue Holiday, and Kyrie Irving will join Rondo, Wade, 'Melo, LeBron and KG who were voted as starters. I think many of us knew this was a distinct possibility. The Celtics record isn't really worthy of having 3 all-stars. That said, Paul Pierce's numbers are remarkably...

Another Year Another Ride

The Celtics are all to familiar with the emotions of "a day at the park" Being a Celtics fan for a season is almost like going to Six Flags, or any other amusement park, for the day. The anticipation to get there is unbearable and all you can do is sit and think about the possible outcomes of a day at the park. You finally get there and reality hits you, theres a lot of...

Paul Pierce says Celtics lack mental toughness

The Boston Celtics are clearly a team in transition. Once a team dominated by the Big Three (Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett), the Celtics are now a mix of veterans and youngsters with point guard Rajon Rondo being the bridge. The result so far hasn't been pretty. The Celtics currently stand at 20-21 with losses to the lowly Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers the last...

Recap: Celtics let one slip away, literally

Sigh. The Celtics clawed their way back from a 10-point deficit in the 4th quarter only to fumble the ball out of bounds on two critical possessions late in the game. It was those  mental mistakes, courtesy Jason Terry and Paul Pierce, that cost them a chance at victory over the Knicks. The final score: NY 89 Bos 86. The reason behind tonight’s loss was the shooting. The Celtics...

Here's Avery Bradley's original tweet (which he has taken down, since it appeared on CSNNE): "Please stop sayin he gave me 40. Nobody will ever score 40 on me unless they take 40 shots" Of course Kyrie Irving just scored 40 on Rajon Rondo a couple hours before Bradley tweeted this. Lest anyone make a big deal about this remember, Rondo when asked about Bradley&...

Paul Pierce: Celtics Lack Mental Toughness

“I think that’s the one thing this team lacks, that mental toughness, man. When we lose our confidence, I’ve never been on teams like that. We got to stay together, we got to play with confidence. “Yeah, definitely, it hurts me to say that. It’s like I really sometimes don’t believe it….We get down on ourselves. We got to go out there and believe we can win every game...

Anthony will bring his own bodyguard with him for Thursday’s matchup at the TD Garden, according to the New York Daily News. The reasoning Anthony’s employing the extra security detail is not...
