Celtics (41-13) vs. Indiana (27-29) February 8, 1980 Boston Garden The Celtics continued to roll over the competition, squashing Indiana, 130-108, on New Bedford Night at the Garden.  While Olympic boxing hopeful Andre McCoy was being honored and boxing fans were salivating over his future, the Celtics were busy winning their sixth straight game.  This was already the fourth time during the 79-80 season the Celtics had generated a winning streak of at least six games. The Celtics were looking to eliminate areas of weakness in the second half of the season.  The second quarter represented an area of concern, as the C’s had been tied or simply out-scored in 31 of the 54 games.  That wouldn’t be an issue on this particular evening, however, as the Green Team pulled ahead in the second, out-scoring the Pacers, 43-30.  A fourteen point lead at the half evolved into a 21-point lead after three frames.  The Celts were 35-2 when tied or leading after three, and improved that mark to 36-2 ...

Pierce says he wants a chance to get another ring, whether in Boston or elsewhere

Paul Pierce wants no part of being part of another rebuilding team. Ideally he'd like to get a 2nd championship in Boston, but if that doesn't look likely, he's more than willing to compete for his 2nd title elsewhere. In a very open and revealing interview with the Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett, Pierce let his feelings be known. “I want an opportunity to at least...

Celtics looking to add a big man, 'owe it' to KG and Pierce to make a run

Six straight wins have lifted the Celtics three games over .500, and into 7th place in the Eastern Conference. Not ideal playoff position by many stretch, but the team has flourished since losing Rajon Rondo for the season, and it seems they've done enough to impress team President Danny Ainge. According to Ric Bucher, Ainge has taken note of the recent stretch, propelled by...

Spears (@SpearsNBAYahoo) February 8, 2013 After a brief burst of “maybe Rondo will return quicker than we think” stuff last night, it’s now obvious his season is over. Spears added that Rondo has “spoken to three doctors...

Your Morning Dump… Where Danny Ainge explains the difference w/o Rondo

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “We are different without him,” Ainge explained. “We’re running better now because five guys are running. Honestly, I think we rely on Rondo too much. “For example: With Rondo out, you see Jeff Green grab...

Celtics rumors: Boston unlikely to trade Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce

Boston Celtic veterans Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce have had their names come up in trade rumors throughout the season. However, general manager Danny Ainge doesn’t expect either player to be traded, reports Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston."Yeah, I think that's by far the most likely thing. Sure," he said when asked whether he was comfortable saying the two stars...

Kevin Garnett Says He Wants to Retire as a Celtic, While Bashing the Media

I find it ironic that KG says if it is up to him he would retire a Celtics, when it is up to him. He has a no trade clause so if he wants to stay a Celtic forever that is his choice. KG himself spoke on how it is a business and he understands the possibility of being traded, so his comments that it is all the media fault for the rumors sounds silly. “On a last note, I just want...

The House that Truth Built

In his 14 years in the league, Paul Pierce has seen it all - the ups and downs, the losing and the winning, the rise and fall.  It just wouldn't be right to see the Truth and all that he's worked hard for winding down on either a rebuilding Celtics team or a contending opposing one.  It just ain't right.  Truth belongs to a fighting, competing ballclub right here in...

Jason Terry started the spurt with a triple, Jeff Green provided a thunderous dunk before sprinting...

Live Game Updates - Lakers @ Celtics

7:25: The Celtics, after their well-earned win in Toronto, will host the arch-rival Lakers tonight at the Garden. The Lakers and Celtics are both starting to heat up as LA is on a three-game win streak and Boston is on a five-game win streak. The Celtics are now an overall 25-23 while the Fakers are 23-26. I expect Celtics to win tonight, but I won't guarantee it. We'll just...
