BOSTON --  In a game they had to have, the Boston Celtics came out with a passion and aggression        that we had not seen from them in the playoffs thus far.  They beat the New York Knicks 97-90 in game four of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals Sunday.   With J.R. Smith suspended for hitting Jason Terry in the face with his elbow in game three, New York found themselves searching for a second scorer to go along with Carmelo Anthony.   Boston's Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett had that look in their eye on Sunday.  The two veterans had a never-say-die mentality going into the game, and it showed; they were not going to lose this game. The first quarter was an impressive one for Boston.  They held New York to just 14 points, while they scored 22 points.  The Knicks also had 12 turnovers in the first half (a season-high in a half).  The ball movement was good for the Celtics.  They were passing to the open man, and getting open shots.  Jeff Green was feeling it, and went at the ...

Jason Terry: “I’m coming out with something”

Celtics sharp off-the-mark shooter Jason Terry refused to comment on the elbow thrown by punk JR Smith during last night’s game. Terry had this to say about the Celtics “fight:” “We’ve just got to fight harder than what we’ve been doing,” Terry said. “I mean, they’re outworking us. You can see it on the tape. Their energy is much better than ours. Offensively, their...

JR Smith suspended for Game 4

ESPN: New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith has been suspended for Game 4 of the Knicks-Celtics playoff series for throwing an elbow that struck the chin of Boston's Jason Terry in Game 3, the NBA announced Saturday night. In a statement, the NBA said it suspended Smith for "throwing an elbow and striking the chin" of Terry. Smith said on Friday he was trying to draw...

JR Smith ejected from game 3 of Knicks vs. Celtics NBA playoffs round 1

The New York Knicks look to be on their way to a first round sweep of the Boston Celtics. But game four just might have to be played minus their “Sixth Man of the Year,” JR Smith. Smith was ejected from Friday night’s win after he elbowed Jason Terry in the face during the fourth quarter. It appears that Smith intentionally elbowed Celtics’ Jason Terry in the face. “The...

J.R. Smith Says Series Would Be Over If He Played Sunday, Doesn’t Know Who Jason Terry Is

J.R. Smith says the Knicks would have swept the Celtics in Boston Sunday if he had not been suspended, and he’d be enjoying a game of golf rather than a day on the practice court preparing to face Boston and Jason Terry, who Smith sarcastically claims to never heard of. According to the NY Post: “Oh yeah, it’d been over,’’ Smith said in his first comments since his one...

(VIDEO) J.R. Smith Hits Jason Terry With A Vicious Elbow

The Knicks/Celtics game last night never really felt like a game. Once again, the Celtics struggled to score the basketball while the Knicks rain 3-pointers. The highlight of the night though was in the forth quarter when J.R. Smith threw a vicious elbow at Jason Terry. Smith had the ball in the corner, Terry swiped at it, Smith didn’t like that, and retaliated with a UFC quality...

Do or Die in Beantown Tomorrow

The Boston Celtics' title hopes are on the line tomorrow as they head into Game 4 down three games to none to the New York Knicks. Fortunately for the Celtics, the Knicks will be without Sixth Man of the Year, JR Smith. Smith was suspended for Game 4 after he hit Jason Terry in the face with an elbow midway through the fourth quarter of Game 3. Hopefully the Cs will be able to...

Garden Report: Celtics Live to Fight Another Day

The Celtics had a really strong first half (where they outscored the Knicks 54-35), but had their usual second half meltdown and were forced to go to OT and rely on Jason Terry (18 pts, 7-10 FG and the last nine points) to win Game 4 97-90 and force Game 5.  Jared Weiss, Jimmy Toscano and Evans Clinchy break down the action.

Recap: Not in our house

Behind a huge OT from Jason Terry, some Truth heroics and Brandon Bass’ tough defense on ‘Melo, Celts avoid the sweep today. After watching a double-digit lead vanish (what is else is new), the C’s fought through some awful officiating, terrible offense of their own and beat the Knicks 97-90 in OT. Without JR Smith, the Knicks struggled to find much of an offense, until late...

Knicks Kenyon Martin Talks Back to Jason Terry

Kenyon Martin has been the heart and soul of the Knicks since his signing. Every team needs a guy with a chip on his shoulder and a nasty attitude. Kenyon Martin has brought that attitude to the New York Knicks. Boston.com: Knicks power forward Kenyon Martin cranked up the trash talk following his team’s 97-90 overtime loss to the Celtics Sunday afternoon. Martin took issue with...

Jason Terry Hints that Kevin Garnett is Retiring

The Boston Celtics were able to keep their playoffs alive yesterday by defeating the New York Knicks 97-90 in overtime to bring the series to a 3-1 Knicks lead. While many doubt the chances of the Celtics actually coming back to win the series, it was nice to see the team still fight for their [...]

TOK Game Preview – Knicks at Celtics Game 4 – Will It Be A Sweep?

The New York Knicks will be heading back home regardless of today’s Game 4 outcome, but will the Celtics be making the trek too? If the Knicks want to make things easier on themselves, then this is a must win. Their advancement to the Eastern Conference Semis is all but a formality, and with Indiana throwing away a game in Atlanta last night, a leg up can be had on rest. With...

Boston Celtics live to die another day, hold off New York Knicks 97-90 in overtime

.fcm2{position:absolute;clip:rect(400px,auto,auto,435px);}guaranteed payday loans I woke up dreading the obituary I seemed destined to write, but the Celtics always find a way to ward off death, at least for a time. The Celtics are still unable to play four quarters, but after blowing a 20 point lead they managed to grind out a fifth one and they were able to come away with a win...

Knicks Lose Heartbreaker in Overtime 97-90

By Max Marcilla Knicks 90 Celtics 97 Boxscore At the end of the half, things were bad for the Knicks. New York had been averaging just fewer than 12 turnovers per game in the first three matches in the series. Today was a different story, as they had 12 turnovers in the first half. In addition to their sloppy ball handling and passing, the Knicks were shooting atrociously. A team...
