It's time for "Camp questions", Volume 5. Today we're talking about the polarizing Jordan Crawford, who many Celtics fans want on the next flight out of Boston. About Jordan Crawford: In college, Crawford dunked on LeBron during LBJ's basketball skills academy. Unfortunately that has been the highlight of his career thus far. Crawford, who attended Xavier, was drafted 27th overall by the Nets in 2010 before a trade night trade sent him to Atlanta. Halfway through his rookie season he was dealt again, this time to the Wizards. Crawford spent parts of three season in Washington, peaking during the 2011-12 season when he averaged 14.7 PPG, 3 APG and 2.6 RPG for the Wizards. Last season Crawford was dealt to the Celtics for an injured Leandro Barbosa and Jason Collins. Washington simply wanted expiring contracts in exchange for Crawford, something that should have been a distinct red flag at the time. Crawford is under contract for $2.16 million this year. He w...

Sullinger Working To Clean Up Mess

Training camp is on the way. A start of a new era for the Boston Celtics. New head coach, new team, new philosophy. So many questions on the horizon waiting to be answered. So the last thing Brad Stevens wanted to wake up to on September 3rd was a phone call telling him Jared Sullinger had been arrested. The police report said that during an argument on Saturday 31st August with...

Danny Ainge says the death of Avery Bradley's mother could cause him to miss some of training camp

From CSNNE's A. Sherrod Blakely: "He's [Avery Bradley] going through a very difficult time," Danny Ainge, Boston's president of basketball operations, told CSNNE.com. "His mother passed away and they were very close and he's expecting a baby any day. He's got a lot going on."  When asked if Bradley might be late to training camp, Ainge responded...

SQ13#32—Best Trade Now is One Not Made

Danny Ainge continues to channel his inner Red by standing pat.  As one who spent the past two months poring over the unsigned picks, draft picks owed, salary, and depth charts for the other 29 teams, I feel completely confident in accusing the Boston FAN-atics of mentally and emotionally urging the GM to roll the dice on more moves.  And yet, at the end of that two months of searching...

Your Morning Dump… Where Avery Bradley might miss the start of training camp

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “He’s going through a very difficult time,” Danny Ainge, Boston’s president of basketball operations, told CSNNE.com. “His mother passed away and they were very close and he’s expecting a baby any day...

Allen Iverson Once Gave Celtics Ball Boy $2,000 to Buy Beer for Sixers (Video)

It was the 2002 playoffs. The Celtics had just eliminated the Philadelphia 76ers from the playoffs. And Allen Iverson was thirsty. So Iverson, then at the peak of his powers and just one year removed from his NBA Most Valuable Player performance and the Sixers’ NBA Finals run, gave a Celtics ball boy $2,000 to stock the Sixers’ team bus with beer. That ball boy — or “ball...

Kelly Olynyk Will Ride Green Line to Promote Taking Public Transportation to TD Garden

Kelly Olynyk can cover a lot of ground with his 7-foot frame, and his $2 million salary this year can cover the lease on whatever luxury automobile he chooses. For at least one day, anyway, he will join the unwashed masses taking public transit. Olynyk will ride the Green Line with Massachusetts transportation secretary Richard Davey to encourage use of public transportation by fans...

Gerald Henderson Calls His Steal in 1984 NBA Finals ‘Best Play in Celtics History’ (Video)

With all due respect to John Havlicek stealing the ball or any of the legions of epic moments in Celtics history, Gerald Henderson submits his clutch steal in Game 2 of the 1984 NBA Finals into the discussion for the franchise’s greatest play of all time. And he is not entirely wrong. Henderson responded to a past claim by popular Celtics blogger John Karalis that Larry Bird...

Celtics Avery Bradley Could Miss Start of Camp Due To Mother Passing, Expecting Baby

The Celtics are clearly in rebuild mode after letting go of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. It’s officially Rondo’s team and we’re not sure when he’ll return yet. The other member of that starting back court, Avery Bradley is going through some difficult times off the court right now. Bradley’s mother passed away recently and he’s expecting a baby any second. “He’s...

Celtics Could Accidentally Make Playoffs, Presenting Worst-Case Scenario for Rebuilding Franchise

With the departures of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Brooklyn this offseason, and beloved coach Doc Rivers moving on as well, most Celtics fans have jumped ship on the upcoming season. Eighth-year point guard Rajon Rondo is now the undisputed leader and face of the franchise, but his need for an attitude-adjustment and questionable leadership qualities has been the talk of the...

We're looking to add a couple new daily writers for the upcoming season

Once a year we like to post an ad for new writers. Last year we were successful in bringing in some new quality writers, so I'll just copy and paste the opening from last year's ad: Want to write for the most popular independently owned and operated Celtics blog? We don't post ads looking for writers often, but we are looking to add a couple Celtics diehards to our...

Olynyk getting to know fans, city before season

Kelly Olynyk was drenched earlier this summer on water rides at Canobie Lake Park in Salem New Hampshire along with 30 or so kids who were there on a field trip. That day he tasted fried dough for the first time. Olynyk has also been able to catch a couple of Red Sox games at Fenway Park. And on Thursday afternoon the Boston Celtics rookie continued to immerse himself in all that...
