The Celtics are playing without Rajon Rondo after he hurt his back in Boston's game against New York the previous night. Rondo was injured when he fell hard to the floor in the third quarter of the 118-110 loss to the Knicks on Tuesday night. He finished the game and had 13 assists, extending his streak of games with at least 10 to 23. Coach Doc Rivers said Rondo probably would miss Friday night's game at Atlanta. The Celtics also faced the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night without guard Ray Allen, who missed his sixth straight game with an injured right ankle, and swingman Mickael Pietrus, who felt pain in his knee. For the Magic, Dwight Howard was sidelined for the sixth consecutive game with a herniated disc.

Rondo, KG and life inside the Celtics lockerroom

You MUST read this article by Holly MacKenzie of Ball Don't Lie. MacKenzie provides fantastic insight into Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett and the dynamics of Celtics lockerroom, courtesy of Keyon Dooling. Here's what Dooling said about the perception of Rajon Rondo's grumpy personality: "It's funny because there were a lot of people who didn't necessarily...

I see the light, I see the light! Eating crow on Rajon Rondo!

Rajon Rondo's seriously consistent play has made a believer out of me. I stand corrected - Rondo is now, undoubtedly, elite! It was approximately just one month ago when I continued my career-long bashing of Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo by saying the Boston Celtics should trade their often enigmatic, split-personality floor leader in the hopes of rebuilding a team that...

Ailing back sidelines Celtics PG Rondo

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo sat out Wednesday's game against the Orlando Magic with a back injury. Rondo was hurt in Tuesday's loss to the New York Knicks when he crashed hard to the floor. Celtics coach Doc Rivers said Rondo would likely sit out Friday's game against Atlanta as well. Rondo has a streak of 23 consecutive games with double-digit assists after...

Taking Stock: Celtics - Knicks

After every game, we'll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player's overall value. Starters Rajon Rondo:  13 points and 13 assists for Rondo, mostly before he got knocked down and nearly got broken in half.  After that, he played like a guy whose back was a mess.  He probably shouldn't have been out there, but he was.  Admirable, yes...

Magic Johnson and Jon Barry state Rajon Rondo is the best point guard in the NBA

In Magic Johnson's "Magic 8 Ball" TV segment, the ESPN crew discussed whether Rajon Rondo is currently the best point guard in the NBA this season. Said Jon Barry: "With all due respect to Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Darren Williams, Steve Nash, the whole list, Rondo is the best point guard in the NBA this season." Magic Johnson concurred, and compared...

Ray Allen, Mickael Pietrus, Rajon Rondo did not make trip to Atlanta for #Celtics today, presumably meaning they won't be on court tomorrow.— Scott Souza (@scott_souza) April 19, 2012 The news just keeps flooding in. The Celtics have already locked up the division, at this point health is their primary concern. In case you missed some of the other news today, check out our...

Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, Mickael Pietrus out against Magic

Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and Mickael Pietrus will all miss tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic, according to Doc Rivers. I’m currently covering the game from the TD Garden for CLNS Radio, so go check out my injury story there. The biggest takeaway is that Rondo and Pietrus’ injuries don’t seem to concern Rivers (though they could both miss Friday’s contest with the...

Rondo blows Tyson away

Okay so it’s Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo verse potential defensive player of the year New York Knicks Tyson Chandler. Who do you think would win in a one on one battle? We got that answer tonight as Rajon made easy work of Tyson, it looked like Rondo was playing a child out there, a really big one. Celtics-Hawks Preview

If the Boston Celtics don't win in Atlanta on Friday night, they'll probably have to open the playoffs there next weekend. For that reason, this potential first-round preview appears crucial as the Celtics - without Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen again - try to sweep the regular-season series with the Hawks. Boston (37-26) clinched a fifth straight Atlantic Division title Wednesday...

Ray Allen was told he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies: This fun ride probably shouldn’t be happening

I just woke up from a nightmare in which Steve Novak drilled 497 threes, Rajon Rondo fell helplessly on his back and could later be seen lying uncomfortably on the Madison Square Garden court, Ray Allen’s ankle was the size of a bowling ball so he couldn’t play, Mickael Pietrus came down with an injury and Carmelo Anthony somehow became a menacing all-around player. The cold...

Pierce scored four of his game-high 29 points in the final 7.6 seconds to clinch the win. Pierce also dished out a career-high 14 assists. Pierce got most of the postgame attention....

Magic look to avenge season losses vs. Celtics

Tune into FOX Sports Florida at 7:30 p.m. to watch the Orlando Magic take on the Boston Celtics. NBA Magic territory. There's a reasonable chance the Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics could find themselves matched up in the first round of the playoffs.
