The Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers 92-79 in Boston, after losing in overtime to this same team in Philly the night before. The Celtics (11-9) dominated most of the match and looked nothing like the team that lost to this same Sixers squad in Philadelphia Friday night. Kevin Garnett was the team's high scorer with 19, but failed to record a rebound. Rajon Rondo didn't repeat his triple-double performance of Friday, but he did have seven points, 11 assists, nine rebounds and three steals. Paul Pierce chipped in with 13 points and nine assists, passing 4,000 assists for his career. The Celtics were up by 20 at half holding Philadelphia to 28 points in the half and 12 points in the second quarter, but the Sixers brought the score to within 8 after going 13-0 run in the third. Boston then countered with a 7-0 run of their own. The story of the night, however, was Jeff Green. Green had 16 points on 7-12 shooting in 23 minutes. He has now averaged 16.0 ppg in the pa...

Video: Three at the Buzzer: Garnett, Celtics Rout Sixers 92-79

The Celtics used their defense to revenge their loss last night and beat the Sixers 92-79. The Sixers only shot 39% from the field and saw Kevin Garnett score 19 points, but grab zero rebounds. It is the first time the veteran fails to grab a rebound since 1997. Rajon Rondo nearly had another triple-double [...]

Kevin Garnett thinks it’s f—ing bulls— he was not credited with rebound (Video)

Kevin Garnett has been one of the NBA’s best rebounders his entire career. In fact, he had a streak of recording at least one rebound in every game he played since January 21, 1997. But on Saturday, that streak came to an end when he failed to grab a rebound in the Boston Celtics’ 92-79 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics may have won the game, but Garnett was not happy...

The Best of Tommy

It's time for the best Tweets from Tommy Heinsohn during the rematch with the Sixers and Tommy was on his game tonight! As Jeff Green was called for traveling, Tommy was counting his steps and Mike wasn't too thrilled with his counting skills. Green called for traveling. Counting steps: "One-two! One-two!" Mike: "I don't want you counting my change...

Video: Rajon Rondo continues to fuel Celtics woes.

The Boston Celtics continue to struggle in the middle of the Eastern Conference. A recent series of missteps by temperamental point guard Rajon Rondo has done nothing to elevate their cause. In their 95-94 overtime loss to Philadelphia on Friday, Rondo flubbed what should have been a game-winning scenario.  Please Click Here To Watch A Video Of Rondo's Key Mistake.

Rondo almost Eastern Conference Player of the Week, again

The Hawks Josh Smith took home the East's "Player of the Week" honors (Blake Griffin won for the Western Conference) by putting up 21 points and 12 rebounds per game, while also leading Atlanta to a 3-0 record.  Rajon Rondo was nominated for the award after averaging 13.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 12 assists over 3 games, as well as posting one historic triple double...

Can you name the C's last triple double before Rondo?

It's NOT Gamble, but he did have one. The NBA started keeping track of the stat in 1979.  Since that time, 117 triple doubles have been recorded by 8 different Boston Celtics players (all of these numbers I'm mentioning include playoffs). Between 1979 and 1992, Larry Bird had 69 of the first 71 triple doubles in franchise history.  During his run, Robert Parish (3/29...

Taking Stock: The Celtics – Sixers home-and-home

After every game, we’ll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player’s overall value. RedsArmy presents Fan Friday #33: “Hal Dogg”

Chris (far right) with his cousin Jackie & friend Mark About 2 years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting die-hard Celtics fan Chris H, aka “Hal Dogg” at TD Garden. This guy is just full of energy and Celtic Pride. He’s at the Garden for pretty much every home game with the attitude that the Celtics are going to win, no matter what. Chris, a 23 year-old C’s fan from Blackstone...

Mike Conley Effectively Steering Ship for Surging Grizzlies in Memphis

Whenever someone tells me that Rajon Rondo is the best point guard in the NBA — or one of the top three, or one of the five best, or whatever — I ask where that person ranks Mike Conley. The reason I ask this is because if the fan has not bothered to think about his list at least through the top dozen or so point guards, of which Conley definitively is one, then they probably...

The last time KG had zero rebounds before last night…

Before last night, when Kevin Garnett somehow managed to go reboundless over 23 minutes (while scoring 19 points, shooting 9-11 and registering a +15 rating), he had not notched zero rebounds in an NBA game since Jan. 21, 1997.For reference’s sake, the same day KG last had no rebounds:Terry Porter and Sam Mitchell, who now have a combined 56o games of head coaching experience,...

Turner takes over, Sixers overcome Rondo triple-double, beat Boston

PHILADELPHIA -- Rajon Rondo picked up another triple-double, but the Philadelphia 76ers picked up the win. Evan Turner, despite missing nine of his previous 10 shots, swished a 13-foot jumper with 3.9 seconds left in overtime to lift the Sixers past the Boston Celtics, 95-94, Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center. "I was just trying to get to my sweet spot on the court...

Regret and disapointment in Boston Celtics loss

Paul Pierce and the Celtics were losers on Friday night Rajon Rondo had a triple-double by the time the third quarter was over, but you would not have been able to tell from his post-game comments. “I should have took the layup,” said Rondo after he missed a game-winning opportunity slipping while taking a jump-shot. “I tried to make a plant and just slipped.” As an aside...

Comments from the Other Side - Sixers 12/8

A lot of complaining about the refs but they let a lot go on both sides.  They called it pretty much even.   I loved the comment wondering if the Celtics had Go Go Gadget arms.  They did seem to be hustling to all the loose balls.   Now if only the Celtics can find their consistency and do this on a regular basis.  Enjoy today's comments.  I've highlighted my favorites...
