Celtics power forward Jared Sullinger turned himself in early Tuesday morning after being arrested for assault & battery, malicious destruction of property, and witness intimidation in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.
ReportsÂ say he allegedly pinned his girlfriend to the bed, shoved her, and tried to take away her cell phone to prevent her from calling the police.
As of right now, Sullinger has pleaded not guilty to these charges and has been released from jail on $5,000 bail. Sullinger also issued the following statement to apologize for the situation:
âThe experience was humbling and embarrassing for me. Yet I know that this situation has brought both sorrow and embarrassment to my girlfriend, my family, the Boston Celtics organization, my teammates, and my fans. To all of you, I apologize from the bottom of my heart. âŚ I wanted to immediately and publicly apologize to everyone affected by this situation.âÂ
Sullinger is due back in court on September 19th.
