Found July 11, 2012 on Celtics Town:

The Boston Celtics, for years, have rebounded like the ball might give them a disease. But rookie Jared Sullinger has always been a very good rebounder. And he’s reduced it, much like Kevin Love has done, to a sweet science. (Boston Herald)
“You have to know your niche,” Sullinger said. “You have to know that if they shoot from the left side, 75 percent of the time it’s coming off the other side. You have to get yourself into position. It’s not about jumping. It’s about getting yourself into the perfect position to get the rebound. It’s reading the shot and knowing your shooters. It only takes me a couple of times to know my shooters.“Like Gib, his come off short, so if he’s on the left side, it’s coming off on the right side,” Sullinger said of Jonathan Gibson, who came off the bench with 17 points. “It takes me a couple of days to know what shots are going up, and then you just have to rebound.”It follows that Sullinger must have the flight pattern of E’Twaun Moore’s jumper already charted, considering that they played against each other in college, Moore for Purdue and Sullinger for Ohio State.“E’Twaun is a little bit of both,” Sullinger said. “If it’s a contested shot it’s going to be long. If he’s by himself it’s going to be short. Ya’ll can look out for that, and when you all find out, you’re welcome.”
I’m not saying Sullinger, who had 12 rebounds in 31 minutes yesterday, will automatically become the next Love or Dennis Rodman. I am saying Ryan Hollins should take notes.

Boston Celtics summer league observations, Day 3: Jared Sullinger impresses with back-to-basket game

The Summer League Boston Celtics are undefeated, people! As in, no losses! They have won while controlling a game for four quarters, and they have won with a desperate comeback led by a 6-foot-1 point guard (Jonathan Gibson) who played for a Turkish team called “Trabzonspor” last season. They have won with Jared Sullinger tossing bricks at the rim and they have won with him...

Jared Sullinger Credits His Brothers for Learning to Concentrate on Shot Instead of 'Scrapes All Over Your Arms'

Jared Sullinger may have battled injuries, but don't expect him to cry about them. The new Celtics forward has a history of getting knocked to the ground, but he's consistently gotten back up. Sullinger scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in 24 minutes in his Celtics debut during summer league action in Orlando on Monday. The Ohio State product was impressive in Boston...

Sullinger, Joseph impress in Summer League debut

The Boston Celtics opened their Summer League with a 73-65 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, though the score of these games barely matters. Let’s get right to the early assessments.  First, the returning players: E’Twaun Moore:  His shot was spotty early. He hit a few nice mid-range jumpers, but he had a tough time from long-range.  He picked it up a little in the second...

Celtics vs Pacers Summer League Highlights

Summer League continues to provide encouraging results

Final score (85-77) and three-game winning streak aside, Celtics fans have reason continue to be encouraged by the performances this week at the Orlando Summer League. Jared Sullinger continues to show signs of being NBA-ready… this time by scoring 16 points on 7-12 shooting while also grabbing 8 rebounds and blocking 2 shots.  It wasn’t all great for Sullinger, who also made...

Post your thoughts on the Celtics Summer League performance

I haven't been able to watch all the games myself, so I don't feel that comfortable posting evaluations on all of the players. But from what I've seen so far I've been impressed by a few guys. I'd predicted that Jared Sullinger would be a rotation player for the Celtics in his rookie season and his play this week only reinforces that prediction. He's a baller...

Your Morning Dump… Where basketball is back to day!

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. 1. The rookies: Summer league offers our first glimpse of the league’s freshest batch of players going against other NBA-caliber talent. While we always caution against reading too much into summer league play...

Boston Celtics Summer League observations, Day 2: The rise of Jonathan Gibson

Somebody named Jonathan Gibson, who played his college ball at “I need to Google Jonathan Gibson really quickly because I have no idea where” University, scored 15 fourth-quarter points on Tuesday as the Boston Celtics overcame a 17-point deficit to edge the Brooklyn Nets at the Orlando Summer League. Almost as importantly, Adam Morrison still exists, and he now looks like...

Jonathan Gibson leads C’s to Summer League win… wait who?

The Celtics were scuffling along in typical summer league fashion.  They were down by 17 to the Brooklyn Nets… … until undrafted rookie Jonathan Gibson took over. Gibson dropped 17 points off the bench and led the Celtics to a 30-14 fourth quarter and 82-73 Celtics win.  Gibson is a 6’1″ guard out of New Mexico State with little chance of making the Celtics roster, but...

Observations from Boston Celtics’ Summer League, Day 1

Editor’s note: This post is from Jordan Higgs. He is likely to be one of Celtics Town’s initial crop of interns, who are plotting to take over the world one blog post at a time. Due to other obligations I still haven’t watched the entire game. But from what I’ve watched (the second half), well, JARED MOTHER-F%$&ING SULLINGER!!!!! If you also want to apply for an intern...

New Rookies Start Strong at the Summer League

While it is foolish to put too much stock into the glorified scrimmages that are the Orlando Summer League, the Celtics newest rookie class was on display for the first time in Green and White. While Fab Melo was the raw, work-in-progress that many expected following the draft, 21st Pick Jared Sullinger and 2nd Round swingman Kris Joseph saw extensive minutes over the four games...
