According to WEEI's Sean Grande, the Celtics starting center Jermaine O'Neal will not be playing tonight in the second game of the Celtics-Wizards double header. O'Neal left last night's game against the Wizards with a hamstring issue, so Doc Rivers will rest JO and start Greg Stiemsma in his place.
Back-up center Chris Wilcox will return to the Celtics bench after being out a few days with a shoulder injury.

AROUND THE WEB
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
"I think I passed up a couple looks in practice, one of the first few workouts and he kind of asked me, 'What are you?'" Stiemsa said. "And I said, 'I don't know, shooter?&...
The Boston Herald has an update on Chris Wilcox and his bruised shoulder:
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Chris Wilcox had hoped to play in tonight’s game against the Wizards, but his bruised left shoulder has prevented him from even making the trip.
Also not with the team is new pickup Mickael Pietrus, who is still more than a week away from playing as he gets himself in shape after...
Rookie Center Greg Stiemsma will get his first career start at Center for the Boston Celtics tonight after it was announced that Jermaine O’Neal will NOT play in tonight’s game due to a sore hamstring, suffered yesterday against the Wizards in Washington. Stiemsma has played well off the bench for the Celtics appearing in two [...]
The Boston Celtics have returned to .500. Greg Stiemsma looks like a legitimate backup center (although he started this affair). The Washington Wizards are not good. Boston spent three quarters treading water but applied a finishing kick that left the Wizards in their wake, giving way to a 100-92 victory.Including work, I’ve been writing more or less consecutively since 9 a.m...
As legend has it, there once lived a man whose shot Greg Stiemsma could not block. Stiemsma spent years plotting his revenge (or something like that), and the two finally met in a professional game in the country Georgia. Mike Wilkinson, a former teammate of Stiemsma’s at Wisconsin who Stiemsma calls an “undersized post but crafty,” rose for a shot and Stiemsma knocked it...
CLIMB THE WALL
Greg Stiemsma a 6’11 undrafted free agent had his first career start for the Boston Celtics tonight. I’d have to say thanks to John Wall of the Washington Wizards it was a memorable one but for the wrong reason. Wall had a highlight reel dunk on/over him.
Now in all honesty, Stiemsma did have a good first start. He scored 13 points with seven rebounds and two blocks over 21...
The Boston Celtics apparently have someone on their roster called Greg Stiemsma (he’s delightfully known as “The Steamroller” within the Celtics’ locker room.) John Wall introduced this fella to the basketball-watching world last night.
For a little guy, Washington Wizards' John Wall sure can bring down the house with some outstanding dunks. Case in point - Washington's visit to Boston to face the Celtics where Wall threw one down on Boston's big man Greg Stiemsma. And if you are like me and thought, " Who in the heck is this Greg dude?," well this will sure make you remember him going forward...
DATELINE: HUMOR!Greg Stiemsma was relatively unknown, the token blond guy at the end of the bench. Then, something funny happened on the way to the playoffs. The tall guy who seemed to be a joke wasn’t laughing. He was ready to be shipped out of town as soon as GM Danny Ainge gathered a few dollars together to pay for a broken down journeyman to play on the Celtics. Greg has now...

I'm dying to give the Celtics all of the credit in the world. I really am. I just can't bring myself to do it.
It has nothing to do with what the Celtics have or haven't done over the last two nights. There...
