Found July 30, 2013 on NESN.com:
It seems like Jordan Crawford should be a lot older than 24 years old. Crawford became famous in a fuzzy video taken on a handheld camera that showed him, as an underclassman at Xavier, kinda-sorta dunking over LeBron James. He left Xavier after one year — having also left Indiana, his first stop as a college player, after one year — was traded on draft night, got traded again midway through his rookie season and was traded for a third time last season. He has bounced around so much, it seems like he has been in the NBA a lot longer than three years. Yet here is Crawford, entering his fourth professional campaign, on his third NBA team, and the moment of truth has arrived. Crawford will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season and must prove that he is more than the unhinged, free-shooting wild thing he has been since his high school days in Virginia. Volume-shooting guards are a dime a dozen in the NBA. He has to find a way to set himself apart. The Celtics signaled a ch...

Your Morning Dump..Where More Leadership Could Suit Rondo

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  Sometime in the coming months, likely in October, the Boston Celtics will almost certainly announce that Rajon Rondo has been named the 15th captain of the storied franchise. Taking the torch from Paul Pierce...

Video: Rajon Rondo passing highlights from the 2012-2013 season

Rajon Rondo is known for his incredible passing skills. During the 2012-2013 season, Rondo had an amazing streak of 37 games with 10 or more assists, which got broken after he was ejected after his infamous fight with Kris Humphries. NBAClutchTime on YouTube posted a nearly ten minute long compilation of Rondo's passing highlights from last season (which I believe was originally...

MarShon Brooks Back in Boston With Chance to Fulfill Ample Offensive Potential (Poll)

MarShon Brooks can flat-out score. The Celtics knew that when they drafted him in the first round of the 2011 NBA draft. They knew it when they immediately traded him for JaJuan Johnson and a second-round pick. And they still know it, obviously, after trading back for him as part of the blockbuster deal with the Nets earlier this month. After Brooks had been officially introduced...

Reader’s Digest accidentally attributed an Aristotle quote to Shaquille O’Neal

To be honest, I’ve haven’t opened a Reader’s Digest in sometime but when Shaquille O’Neal gets accidentally quoted instead of a philosophic legend, I have to write about it. In the June issue of Reader’s Digest, the below quote was seen in the Quotable Quotes section of the magazine: As noted in the title of this post, Shaq was actually paraphrasing philosopher Aristotle...

Reader’s Digest Gives Shaquille O’Neal Credit for Aristotle Quote

Doc Rivers‘ favorite quip, whenever a reporter asks him about an injured player’s condition, is “You know ‘Doc’ is just a nickname, right?” Shaquille O’Neal may want to co-opt his former coach’s phrase for his own devices: “You know ‘Big Aristotle’ is just a nickname, right?” Reader’s Digest apparently did not get the memo. In its “Quotable Quotes” section...

Celtics’ Rookie Kelly Olynyk Battling Plantar Fasciitis, Will Not Play With Canadian National Team This Summer

Kelly Olynyk‘s impressive showing during the Orlando Summer League drew high praise from experts around the league, but due to a sudden foot injury, the Celtics’ first-round draft pick will have to lay low for the remainder of the summer. Olynyk suffers from plantar fasciitis, which is an inflammation of the connective tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot. The injury...

Phil Pressey Brings Needed Ballhandling Depth to Celtics Behind Rajon Rondo (Poll)

When Rajon Rondo went down with his season-ending knee injury last season, the Celtics thought they could make it work. Even though there was no true point guard left among the healthy charges, Jason Terry, Avery Bradley, Courtney Lee and Leandro Barbosa believed they could split the ballhandling duties well enough. They were right, for a while. Once Barbosa suffered his own knee...

CP3 threatened to leave for Rockets?

Chris Paul reportedly threatened to leave the Clippers and sign with the Rockets when the Doc Rivers trade talk initially broke down.

Olynyk battling plantar fasciitis

Celtics rookie big man Kelly Olynyk is coming off an eye-opening performance in the Orlando Summer League a good sign for the Boston Celtics squad that have been short of good signs lately. But now comes a less favorable sign from the seven-footer the Celtics drafted 13th-overall out of Gonzaga in the 2013 NBA Draft – Olynyk is battling plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis a...

Why Brad Stevens and Rajon Rondo are the reasons the 2013-14 Celtics will not tank

To tank, or not to tank. That is the question. Ever since the 2013 season ended it seems as though two different schools of thought have emerged from Celtics fans. Those who feel like the team should "tank" 2013-14, doing what it takes to lose games and ensure a top prospect in a loaded 2014 draft; and those who shudder at the mere thought of going through another season...

Sully and Trey Burke take part in RNB Classic

Columbus, Ohio radio station Power 1075 caught-up with the Boston Celtics’ Jared Sullinger last weekend. Sully and Michigan alum/Utah Jazz draftee Trey Burke were in town for the 7th annual Rodgers Neighborhood Basketball classic. Sully was asked about how his rehab was going, what kind of shape he’s in following the surgery and his predictions for the new look Celtics. Also...

History Lesson: A look at past NBA draft lotteries suggests tanking is a very bad idea

At the beginning of the month I wrote a piece called "History Lesson: A revealing look inside the 1996-97 tank job."  It was a miserable year that I would never want the Celtics to repeat.  Yesterday Mike Dyer discussed why Brad Stevens and Rajon Rondo will prevent the Celtics from tanking this year.  I am adamantly opposed to tanking.  There is no guarantee being really...

Six years ago today the Celtics transformed their franchise by acquiring Kevin Garnett

July 31st. The day synonymous with the Major League Baseball trade deadline, where clubs on the fringe of contention look for one final piece that could make them a true championship caliber team. Six years ago, the Celtics took a page from baseball's book and transformed their franchise on July 31st, dealing five players and two first round picks to the Timberwolves for Kevin...

Olynyk ranked No. 2 rookie of Summer League by SB Nation

SB Nation has ranked all of the rookies of the 2013 Summer League and Boston's Olynyk comes in as the second best player behind Charlotte's Cody Zeller. Olynyk's offensive skills were really impressive in Orlando, but he also hit some difficult shots that he may not hit in the regular season. ... (Olynyk) opened many eyes in Orlando and was probably the most consistent...

Your Morning Dump… where Brad Stevens is assembling a United Nations of coaches

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.  The Boston Celtics have hired former Butler guard Ronald Nored in a player development role, a source told ESPN.com’s Jeff Goodman. The 23-year-old Nored, a guard on Butler’s two Final Four teams coached...
