Celtics fans got a good look last night at O.J. Mayo’s talents (24 points, 10-19 FG, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and 9 TOs). That box score is something that we could have seen in a Celtics jersey. It’s no secret that Mayo’s name has been linked to the Celtics over the past couple of seasons, mostly in trade talks and failed deals. This past April, Celtics analyst Donny Marshall claimed that it was Mayo‘s refusal to play for Boston that led to the collapse of a deal with the Grizzlies that would have shipped out Ray Allen and a draft pick. “Mayo basically said, ‘I don’t care about banners,’” announced Marshall. Apparently he never said such a thing. “It would’ve been an honor to play with KG [Kevin Garnett], [Paul] Pierce and [Rajon] Rondo,” said Mayo. “It would’ve been great to play with those guys and with [Celtics coach] Doc [Rivers].” “I was pretty much set to come here and something fell through at the very last second,” said Mayo. “A couple of the guys wan

Jason Terry is a Celtic- Behind the Scenes Part 2

Another look behind the scenes of the NOC's Jason Terry videos. Here we see what went into the making of The Shootout, the Jason Terry is a Shooter, and the Pranked videos. These are such fun videos. Jason Terry will be front and center on Wednesday as his current team takes on his former team at the Garden. [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Video: Terry talks playing his former team & Rondo talks NFL dreams & Tom Brady

Might be an emotional night tomorrow as Jason Terry faces his former long time teammates for the first time. For his part he's downplaying the game based on the fact that a lot of the guys he went to war with over there will not be playing tomorrow. Most likely the Celtics lone visit to Dallas will be the tougher night. Below is the video to compliment Mike Dyer's recent...

Kevin Garnett shares long hug with Kevin McHale after Rockets beat Celtics (Video)

Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale shared a long hug with Boston Celtics star Kevin Garnett after Friday night's NBA matchup at the Toyota Center, where the Rockets defeated the Celtics 101-99. It was the first time the teams played since McHale took a month-long absence to grieve the loss of his daughter Sasha, who died of complications from Lupus at the age of 23. As they...

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

I included the video of Kevin McHale and Kevin Garnett embracing in the game recap, but I felt that this moment was so special it needed to be mentioned again. Yesterday was a very rough day for almost everyone in this country. Twenty precious children were killed in an act of senseless violence. Those of us who are parents and grandparents were hit especially hard by the tragedy...

Celtics outlast Mavs 117-115 in double overtime

Jason Terry hugs his former coach, Rick Carlisle The storyline in this one was Jason Terry playing his first game against his former team. Terry didn't play great with just 10 points but far more importantly, the C's were able to beat his former club, although it took a long time. The first half was the story of Paul Pierce absolutely finding his scoring touch. Over his...

Celtics Escape With Win Over Mavericks Despite Mistakes That Will Cost Them Against Better Teams

BOSTON — Jason Terry was incapable of recalling even the most crucial late-game possessions. His mind was so fogged over with 58 minutes of basketball, he could only try — but fail — to recall specific plays from the Celtics’ double-overtime slog against the Mavericks. “I don’t know,” Terry said. “I don’t even remember. It all happened so fast.” Actually, it happened...

Examining the Celtics’ lack of execution in crunch time

SOUTH PARIS, Maine – Since the departure of Ray Allen during the offseason, the Boston Celtics have fallen behind a tad bit in the execution department. Despite any hard feelings Celtics fans may have of Mr. Allen, nobody can deny that his ability to perform in the closing minutes of a game is second to [...]

Celtics grind out double-overtime win against the Mavericks 117-115

My eyes are bleeding. In a primetime matchup with Jason Terry’s old team the Celtics treated us to a delightful double-overtime period where both teams forgot how to play basketball, but the Celtics eventually remembered enough to get by. The Celtics had a five point lead at the half after giving up an 11-6 Mavericks run to end the second quarter. Then the Celtics did exactly what...

Celtics Survive Mavs 117-115

On Wednesday night the Celtics hosted the Dallas Mavericks. Coming into the game the big storyline featured Jason Terry as he matched up against his former team for the first time since joining the Celtics this off season.  Although Terry said it was just another game it's been well documented he wasn't pleased when the call never came for him to resign with the Mavs. In...

Mavericks-Celtics Preview

Maybe Jason Terry's play last season for the Dallas Mavericks against the Boston Celtics is a big reason why he's wearing green and white now. Terry will face the Mavericks for the first time since joining the Celtics in Wednesday night's matchup in Boston. Dallas (11-10) has won four straight over Boston (11-9), with Dirk Nowitzki leading the way with 24.0 points per...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc has no timetable for a Celtics turnaround

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “I don’t have a timetable on (when it’s all going to come together) because I don’t know what the time is going to be,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. “Some teams I’ve had get it like that, some take...

Kevin McHale: More than just the best low-post player of all-time

As the years have passed by the late 80′s greats in Boston, history has remember Kevin McHale as a Celtics’ legend, decent head coach and the guy who gave Kevin Garnett to Boston. People don’t remember just how dominant McHale was in green. For his career, Kevin McHale average 17.9 PPG, 7.3 RPG and [...]
