Found April 21, 2013 on Celtics Life:
The Celtics managed only 8 points in the 4th quarter last night, and just 25 total in the second half. For the game Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce combined to shoot 10-27 from the field, 37%. The bench scored just 4 points without making a field goal (0-7), including 0-4 3PT from Jason Terry. Boston's reserves also failed to register a single assist. The Celtics turned the ball over 20 times, compared to 13 for the Knicks. Despite all of this, it was still a three point game (79-76) with 2:45 to go at MSG.  It's also worth noting what happened in Game 1 of the playoffs a year ago: Garnett and Pierce made 13 of 38 shots (34%), the bench chipped in only 4 points, and the C's lost 83-74 in Atlanta.  Boston went on to win 4 of the next 5 to take the series in 6 games. Celtics/Knicks Game 1 postgame interviews (KG & Pierce)

Kevin Garnett blames the turnovers and Paul Pierce blames the poor execution on offense (which tends to cause turnovers as well) for the Celtics loss in Game 1. The Celtics will try and bounce back on Tuesday.

Celtics can’t just stand and watch Pierce try to fly this bucket of bolts

The script wasn’t supposed to go like this. Jeff Green and Avery Bradley weren’t supposed to lead the Celtics into the locker room as the team’s two leading scorers at halftime yesterday.  They were supposed to be the sidebar to the main feature:  Paul Pierce eating up the Madison Square Garden hate and spitting it back at the crowd with dagger after dagger.  They were supposed...

Your Morning Dump… Will the Celtics be focused on the Knicks?

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “The (bleep) is crazy,” Garnett said. “Everybody is trying to at least focus in on, obviously our game, the playoffs. But the obvious, everybody’s worried also.” Said Jason Terry: “We’re still thinking...

Comments from the Other Side - Knicks 4/20

The Knicks fans are right up there with the Heat and Lakers fans for being bandwagon fans and also classless.  I'm glad that Melo at least called them out for booing Pierce when he was giving a tribute to the bombing victims.   Seeing them complain so much about the officiating when they were calling the game fairly evenly,  missing calls both ways but not as bad as they...

Celtics Seeking Revenge in Game 2

After the sloppy play featured in the second half of the series opener, Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics will look to redeem themselves in Game 2 this evening at MSG. Turnovers plagued the Celtics late in Game 1 but the atrocious efforts put forth by the bench are what ultimately did them in. While Carmelo Anthony led the way with 36 points, it was the New York Knicks bench that...

Turnovers the Difference in Celtics' Game 1 Loss

Celtics' 21 turnovers prove too much to overcome There are plenty of reasons the Celtics fell short Saturday afternoon in their playoff opener against the Knicks. That the Celtics scored just eight fourth quarter points would be a reasonable place to start, especially when you consider that Boston led by three heading into the fourth. Then there are Jason Terry’s zero points...

Cs Sputter in Second Half, Knicks Take Game 1

The Celtics fell to the New York Knicks today, 85-78, in the opening game of their first round series. Things went pretty well for Boston in the first half and they held a 53-49 lead heading into intermission, but both the third and fourth quarters proved to be a disaster.
