Beyond The Buzzer:
While the Celtics expect Rondo to be ready at the start of next season, the All-Star point guard’s agent suggests he could return to action sooner that expected because it’s only a partial tear. Danny Ainge made it clear that this report does not change his timetable, and Rondo will not play this season, but it’s still good news for his recovery.
According to A. Sherrod Blakely, CSNNE:
The agent for Rajon Rondo tells CSNNE.com that the torn ACL injury suffered by Rondo is a partial tear, opening the door for him to possibly return to the floor sooner than anticipated.
“It’s still too early to tell for sure,” his agent Bill Duffy told CSNNE.com. “But we are very optimistic about his return now that we know his injury is only a partial tear and not a full tear.”
According to Marc J. Spears, Yahoo! Sports:
Rajon Rondo projected to be out 6 months after surgery next week to repair a partially torn right knee ACL, a source told Y! Sports.

After a brief burst of “maybe Rondo will return quicker than we think” stuff last night, it’s now obvious his season is over.
Spears added that Rondo has “spoken to three doctors...
After tearing his ACL, Rajon Rondo was expected to miss the rest of the season with the hope being that he could return in time for the start of training camp next season. However, Rondo has discovered that the tear is only a partial tear and he may be able to return sooner. How much sooner? There isn't an exact timeframe yet, but if we read between the lines, the indication...
Former Celtic Kendrick Perkins spoke with the media Tuesday and addressed Rajon Rondos' knee injury against the Atlanta Hawks. As we all know, Perk' also tore his anterior cruciate ligament during Game 6 of the 2010 NBA Finals, so he spoke with Rondo about rehab, recovery, and just personal comfort to a close friend and former teammate.
"When you hear stuff like that...
The outlook was bleak.
Rajon Rondo's season-ending knee injury was certain to hurt the Celtics hopes for a playoff berth. How could Boston possibly survive without its offensive catalyst, the NBA leader in assists and triple-doubles and one of the best rebounding guards in the league?
But not only have the Celtics survived, they've thrived.
They're 6-0 since Rondo...
As a Celtics fan, I hate Kobe Bryant for a lot of reasons. But today, I really despise him…. because he said a lot of things that I really agree with.
In an interview with Jackie MacMullan, Kobe talked about the Celtics, the rivalry, and Rajon Rondo.
First, the topic du jour around Boston, the notion the Celtics are better without Rondo.
“You don’t want Rondo? Send him my...
When Celtics All Star Rajon Rondo was lost to a season ending injury he was dominating the NBA in triple doubles, even posting one in each of his final two games. In Boston’s first contest without Rondo, Paul Pierce managed a trible double of his own. During the C’s 5 game winning streak Pierce has continually put up some very Rondo-esque numbers. His scoring is down...
BOSTON — When Kevin Garnett is in a really good mood, he has a tendency to make cooking analogies.
Hey, we all have our things.
Since Rajon Rondo went down with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Garnett has been one of the most vocal Celtics in talking about every players’ need to step up in one area or another to take on the many roles Rondo fulfilled all...
In a recent Grantland article, NBA writer Zach Lowe lays out Rajon Rondo’s impact on the Celtics and what their recent success says, if anything.
Boston projects as the same team without Rondo that it was with him — a defensive juggernaut that will win games when its offense does just enough to allow its defense to carry the Celtics across the line. How often they can find the...
Don’t tell KG the season is over. Under him and Pierce, the C’s are flourishing.
On January 25th, the Celtics blew a 27 point lead to the Atlanta Hawks and lost in overtime to bring their record down to 20-23 on the season, and continuing to wallow in the worst possible spot: not good enough to be a legitimate playoff contender, but not bad enough to to have a good chance...
In their first road test since Rajon Rondo’s injury, the Celtics were able to come back from 10 down at the start of the fourth quarter to beat the Raptors 99-95 and extend their win streak to five games. The catalyst in the rally? LeAndro Barbosa, who scored 11 of his 14 points in the fourth. Barbosa’s energy at both ends of the floor sparked a dramatic turnaround in which...

With aging stars up and down the roster, many assumed the Celtics should start trying to trade some assets for young pieces and the future.
