Found May 20, 2013 on Celtics Spot:
Former Louisville star and current Boston Celtic, Terrence Williams, was arrested yesterday in his home state of Washington. Ever since he was drafted, Williams has always seemed to find trouble in some way, shape, or form. He bounced between three different teams in as many years, always having trouble seeing eye-to-eye with coaches. Of course, he was bounced from the league, forced to play overseas in 2012-13 before signing on with the Celtics on February 10th.  It was a local newspaper in Williams' native state, the Kent Reporter, that broke the news. As all crimes are upsetting to hear about, it was especially unsettling that this was of the domestic violence variety.  At about 1:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to meet the victim who resides in the downtown Kent area. The victim reported that the father of her 10-year-old son in common, identified as NBA basketball player Terrence D. Williams, arrived to her home for a scheduled visitation exchange of their son. She said during the exchange in the parking lot area an argument ensued. The victim reported that during the argument Williams brandished a firearm and made threats. Williams left the area prior to police arrival, but was later located and taken into custody. What we know for sure is right there in black and white. Whether or not he'll be proven guilty of these accusations has obviously yet to be seen. But this makes things a lot more difficult for the 25 year old. He now has two verdicts to anxiously anticipate, both the decision of the jury/judge when he goes to court as well as Danny AInge's decision to bring him back or not.  Williams is slated to make the veterans minimum of $947,907 over the course of the 2013-14 season. However, that contract is not guaranteed. He still has to go through training camp and actually make the team before any money comes his way. Essentially, Williams is as much on the Celtics as he is off. What I mean by that is he'll be participating in Boston's camp as if he were a Celtic but he can still be cut without the Celtics' salary cap being affected negatively or positively. Should he make the team, Williams' contract would become guaranteed on October 31st of this year. However, there is a small guarantee of $200,000 that he would receive on June 30th.  I know that contracts can be extremely difficult to understand but I hope the way I explained it allows you to get the gist of it.  Based on the past, the ball is not in Williams' court (no pun intended). If you recall, it was a gun charge that ultimately ended Sebastian Telfair's run in Boston and the gun charges that Allen Iverson faced early in his career played a big role in the Celtics' decision not to pursue him in the past few years.  I'll leave it at this, everyone makes mistakes and even though it's a heavily overused cliche, it's true. Personally, I was excited when Boston acquired Terrence Williams. The talent is there and I felt like he really bought into the "Celtic Way." Gun charges are terrible, especially when a child is involved. But let me be the first to tell you that I have spoken personally with Williams on multiple occasions and he's truly a good dude. I hope he isn't found guilty and is able to return for another season in Boston. Over his 4 year career, Williams has averaged 7.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.  Follow @MacLean_Tim
