They will site things like, “The Celtics are 15-7 this season without Rondo, and 12-4 since he went down”. They might even look at the statistics of the team and individual players while he’s been out. The problem with these numbers is they do not take into account the location of the game or the quality of the opponent.
Home court in the NBA may be one of the most important factors in determining an outcome. For example, the Indiana Pacers are 38-23 this season, currently tied for 2nd in the Eastern Conference. They are a miserable 13-16 on the road. All teams play better at home, some more than others.
