This season will not only mark the end of the Paul Pierce era in Boston but it will also mark the end of the WEEI era as well. Entercom Communications stations WRKO and WEEI have carried Celtics games since 2005 but they announced today that they will no longer broadcast the franchise's games beginning next season. According to the Globe:
"WEEI has had an incredible run with the Boston Celtics, from being a part of their 17th championship banner to the end of the Big 3 era," said Entercom Boston vice president/market manager Jeff Brown in a statement.
"Unfortunately we were unable to come to terms on a new contract moving forward. We thank the entire Celtics organization for our tremendous time together and wish them the best of luck in the future."
It's not known which radio station will be carrying the Celtics this season. We can only hope that Grande and Max, the radio voices of the Celtics on WEEI will make the move with the team. It just wouldn't be the same without them.
