There was a lot of second guessing at the NFL Draft in April when the Buffalo Bills and their new head coach Doug Marrone went with quarterback EJ Manuel over his college QB Ryan Nassib and a few other notables, but Marrone is downright giddy when talking about what he's seeing from his rookie. "From my standpoint ... EJ Manuel has done better (as a rookie) than any of the other organizations I've been a part of," Bills coach Doug Marrone said after Friday's practice, via the team's official website. Marrone: "From my standpoint ... EJ Manuel has done better (as a rookie) than any of the other organizations I've been a part of" — Buffalo Bills (@buffalobills) May 31, 2013 Praise from a head coach on a rookie is nothing new, as they of course want to come off as if they made the right move, but in the OTA stage of the offseason, it's way too early to tell what EJ, or any other rookie for that matter, will become when real football begins. Per NFL.com: ' Marrone's career with the Bills invariably will be linked to Manuel's success, so we'd be surprised if the coach dished out anything but praise for his young quarterback. On the field, Manuel has played through organized team activities as the third quarterback behind Kevin Kolb and Tarvaris Jackson. That doesn't mean much, and the Bills would surprise us if they made anyone other than Manuel their Week 1 starter. That's where all of this is headed. '
