NorthWest Sports Beat:
San Francisco 49ers
My Fantastic Five vs. 49’ers
It won’t be easy. But it can be done. Sunday night in front of a national audience at “Seahawks Stadium” the 12th man can will their Hawks to victory vs. the NFC West leading San Francisco 49ers.
1.) Attack the Edges
Defensively, the hawks match up well with San Fran, but with two top cover guys out for Seattle the key to shutting down the pass will be limiting the mobility of the 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick. has been successful by moving the launch point of the football when he sprints out of the pocket.
Keeping him contained will allow defenders to stay between him and his intended targets.
That being said, look for the Hawks Defensive Ends, Red Bryant and Chris Clemons to take wide rushes to limit the roll-outs.
2.) Protect the Franchise
The flip side to point number one is for Seattle to keep their QB, Russel Wilson, upright. Wilson is going to be looking to avoid NFL sack-master Aldon Smith. Protecting Wilson will be, of course, Russell Okung but look for Coach Pete Carroll to use multi-back sets to aid in blocking Smith.
Play action deception should be a major contributing in the Seahawks passing game.
3.) Man Up
Another Offensive strategy to limiting Aldon Smith’s production is to run right at him. You heard me. Go right at the one of the league’s best defenders with the Read Option they have been running so well. Smith is going to be a key factor on the field and the best way to lock him up is face him straight on.
Let him make the bad decision.
It’s better to face your demons head on than for them to sneak up and destroy you from behind.
4.) Mission Impossible
This game will feature two of the more dynamic QB’s in the NFL today.
Coaches for both clubs may install the “Spy” technique
Coaches for both clubs may install the “Spy” technique to limit the production of both Wilson and Kaepernick. Look for Seattle’s Superstar Rookie MLB Bobby Wagner to shadow the ‘Niner passer.
When the Seahawks have the ball, I assume the person watching Russ will be Navarro Bowman. San Francisco will most likely line up Patrick Willis over Marshawn Lynch.
In both scenarios I feel the Hawks hold the advantage.
5.) Stretch Play
For the last two weeks the Seahawks have been dominating defences with their base run and read option running game. The Niners, no doubt, will have seen as much film on this as needed and will be geared up to shut it down. Mostly by bringing 8 guys into the box.
This Sunday night we will see the deep ball come back into fashion as way to spread out the defenders. I like the match-up between Sidney Rice and either of San Fran’s corners who are both older and shorter than Rice.
If Seattle can live up to these keys, the holidays just may get a little merrier and brighter in the Pacific Northwest.
A Seahawks victory can put them in a position to claim the division next week but only if they can keep the 49er’s from striking gold.
Cheers, The Bartender

I DIDN'T DO IT
Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's attorneys have an interesting reason for why they say he failed a drug test.
In the final game of week 16 on Sunday Night Football, the Seattle Seahawks took it to the San Francisco 49ers, dominating the game in all three phases. Russell Wilson had the first four touchdown game of his young career. The 49ers offense was held to two field goals and a late touchdown, by a Seahawks defense that swarmed to the ball all night. After putting on such an impressive...
Whoever wasn’t on the Seahawks bandwagon, you can jump on board now.
They just proved they can hang with anyone, and I honestly believe they are Super Bowl contenders.

Before you dismiss me as a homer, think back on Seattle’s season.
They beat the Pats, Green Bay, Chicago, and now the 49ers. The class of the league have...
The Seahawks are set to play one of the biggest games in their history. They can prove if they are for real or just beating up on bad teams.
The season is coming to a close and I'm sitting at 142-82. That's over .600 but I can do better.
Here's a look at week 16

The 49ers have a chance to wrap up a lot this week against the Seahawks, can they do it on the road?
Now that we're in the last two weeks of the season, the playoff scenarios are starting to come into focus.
Here's a look at the scenarios and my predictions:

As reporters circled around Ricky Jean Francois in the 49ers locker room Friday, teammates Randy Moss, Colin Kaepernick and Mike Iupati each stopped by to call out good-natured questions from behind the crowd, drawing laughs all around. Nobody seems too worried about Jean Francois stepping in for stalwart defensive leader Justin Smith at Seattle on Sunday, particularly not Jean Francois.
The San Francisco 49ers will play against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. Airing on NBC in prime time the game is scheduled for 8:20 pm EST. The Seahawks will hope to have the CenturyLink Field packed with the 12th man as they seek to clinch a playoff birth with a win.
What is the points spread in the 49ers and Seahawks game?
It All Comes Down to This…Sort of
Due to some recent schedule shifting, the 9-5 Seattle Seahawks now take on the 10-3-1 San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.
The stakes are through the roof as the 49ers are fighting to hold onto their division lead with the Seahawks breathing down their necks.
A win for Seattle on Sunday night would clinch the wild card spot, and keep...
One more win and the Seahawks will secure themselves a playoff spot, but more than just a postseason berth is on the line today. The 49ers are being touted as the best team in not just the NFC, but in the entire NFL, and as the saying goes, if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Seattle's earned themselves some favorable press, but a win today will serve notice...
So the reason I'm posting this tackle is because Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor was called for a penalty on this hit on 49ers tight end Vernon Davis. I was watching it live and got really pissed at how soft the NFL has gotten. Check out the hit below and judge for yourself.
Absolutely terrible call right??? Kam led with his shoulder and hit him right...
Dashon Goldson has a stack of manila envelopes in his locker, filing away the paperwork every time the NFL has fined the 49ers’ Pro Bowl free safety. While he has heard from the league office more than a dozen times in his six-year career, the letters often had little to do with his hard-hitting ways until this season.
Two weeks ago, the Seahawks shocked the division, the league and even the country when they shamelessly bludgeoned the Arizona Cardinals at CenturyLink Field by a score of 58-0. Touchdowns on offense, defense and even special teams contributed to a total massacre of a division rival that nobody saw coming.
Last week, the Seahawks followed it up with a dominant showing on the...
