The New York Giants signed running back David Wilson on Friday, while the Carolina Panthers locked up linebacker Luke Kuechly.  Both players were the first round draft picks for their respective teams last April. The two franchises joined Green Bay, Chicago, San Diego and Seattle as the teams who have agreed to a contract with their first round pick, according to ESPN.

Kuechly is the highest pick to sign as of Friday night. Carolina and the linebacker out of Boston College agreed to a four-year, $12.5 million contract. The deal is fully guaranteed with a seven and a half million dollar signing bonus according to RotoWorld.

Carolina wasted no time after signing their linebacker to announce they want him to begin his career at weak-side linebacker. Kuechly will play alongside Jon Beason who experts believe will stay in the middle for now.

As for New York, their first-round pick, running back David Wilson also agreed to a four-year contract. Other details of the contract were not yet available as of Friday night according to RotoWorld. Last year’s ACC player of the year, Wilson will provide much needed depth to the running back core that saw Brandon Jacobs leave for San Francisco. Wilson will have to correct a fumbling problem, however, to compete with Ahmad Bradshaw for carries.

Wilson, much like Kuechly, should have an immediate impact on his team. He gives the Giants a great one-two punch at running back for years to come.
