The Oakland Raiders welcomed back defensive end Matt Shaughnessy to team workouts as he participated in the  mandatory mini-camp for the first time since a shoulder injury put him on injured reserve three games into last season. On a less encouraging note, wide receiver Denarius Moore left with a hamstring injury, but it does not appear to be serious.

“Yeah, he’s got a little hamstring,” Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said of Moore. “He’s going to be fine. We’ll evaluate it when we get back in here and kind of see where we’re at, but usually those things might take a couple of weeks or so. So we’ll see where he’s at.”

Moore has been having an impressive offseason, making an impression on coaches and players. The second year man out of Tennessee is building on a breakout rookie season where he caught 33 passes for 618 yards and 5 touchdowns.

As for Shaughnessy, he is back participating for the first time since week three of the 2011 regular season. Before  shoulder injury, the third year defensive end started all three games with seven tackles and a sack. In 2010, Shaughnessy started eight games with seven sacks and two forced fumbles.

“Yeah, it’s nice to have him out there,” Allen said of Shaughnessy. “Obviously he’s rusty. It’s been a long time since he’s lined up and played defense, so he is a little rusty. But hey, listen, it’s good that we get him out here and get a little work.”

The Raiders will start day two of their mandatory mini-camp today. It will be the last team activity before training camp in late July.
