Bill Williamson of ESPN.com reports that veteran WR Robert Meachem is “on the verge” of re-signing with the New Orleans Saints. Meachem was recently cut loose by the Chargers after what was a disastrous stint with San Diego. Some reports indicated that Meachem’s physical condition was a major issue and his body was beginning to let him down. The Saints could obviously some additional help at receiver, but Meachem has shown nothing in the past few months to prove that he’s capable of being an effective weapon. New Orleans has done a great job in the past of getting average players to produce in their system, so we’ll have to see how things go, assuming of course that a deal is finalized.   The post Report: Saints Close To Re-Signing WR Robert Meachem appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors -.

Rivers, Chargers ready to start season

The Chargers are ready for their season opener but they're going to need a little patience. San Diego hosts Houston in the second game of the Monday night doubleheader, and while that gives them more time to become comfortable in first-year coach Mike McCoy's offense, the Chargers are ready to go now. That won’t be the case for the veteran linebacker, as he...

Super Bowl Picks

Last year’s Super Bowl was arguably one of the best since the Giants vs. Patriots Super Bowl, mainly because one of the league’s legends – Ray Lewis – was playing in one final time.  Everyone was almost certain that the 49ers had the game all in the bag prior to the start, but the Ravens shocked the world once again with their electrifying offense.  I have narrowed my choices...

Vilma to miss Saints' opener

Jonathan Vilma was looking forward to starting the 2013 season on a much better note than how 2012 began for him and the Bountygate-affected New Orleans Saints. That won't be the case for the veteran linebacker, as he won't play in Sunday's opener against the Atlanta Falcons, a source told FOX Sports. And there's even worse news for the 31-year-old Vilma, who is...

Best Falcons Vs. Saints Trash Talk Memes

Call it the game…before the game. The bitter rivalry between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints is playing out on the internet long before it plays out on the field this Sunday. As a die-hard, passionate, unabashed Atlanta Fail-cants hater and New Orleans Saints lover, I’ve gotten my fair share of giggles over the past few weeks reading the smack talking t-shirts and...

Saints place Vilma on short-term injured reserve

Yesterday we reported that Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma was likely to miss Week 1 and possibly longer.  Unfortunately for the Saints, this has turned in to a reality as NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal has revealed that New Orleans will be placing Vilma on the short-term IR/designated to return list.  This is good news in the sense that Vilma is eligible to return this season...
