San Diego Chargers (3-3) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-6) What an accomplishment for the Jacksonville Jaguars! They covered the spread last week for the first time and this season, only losing to the Broncos by a mere 16 points. In all seriousness, the Jaguars could be kind of flat after putting everything they had into that game and coming up short. Now they return home to face the Chargers. In case you didn’t already know this, the Jaguars are pretty bad. Even last week’s performance, their best of the year, would have been a 22 point game if they didn’t pick off Peyton Manning and return it for six (they failed on the 2 point conversion attempt). Justin Blackmon returning has provided a boost, but not one that losing Eugene Monroe, Luke Joeckel, and Cecil Shorts doesn’t nullify. They are moving the ball at a 61% rate offensively, as opposed to 78% for their opponents, a 17% differential that is easily the worst in the NFL. They’ve lost every game this season by 10 points or more, wh...

San Diego Chargers: The biggest surprises this year

The San Diego Chargers are now sitting with a .500 record of 3-3 after the first six weeks of the season.  They have played some great football for some games and some very disappointing football for others.  The team still is in the running for the playoffs if they can become more consistent, and this week’s matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars should only help.  Among...

Justin Blackmon at WR6 in Week 7 Fantasy Football Ranks

Thanks for taking the time to view our Week 7 Fantasy Football Ranks. As always, any answers not apparent from the details below or any questions/comments/concerns about the rankings are welcome in the comments here, or on our standing fantasy advice page. I’m 5 spots ahead of expert consensus on Nick Foles, and I’m good with that. He was last week’s 2nd leading scorer at the...

Game Preview: San Diego Chargers huge game against… the Jags?

When you think of the marquee match-ups San Diego Chargers receiver Keenan Allen scoring against the Colts (Photo credit: Lenny Ignelzi/ AP Photo) in the NFL from week to week, the Jacksonville Jaguars are the last team that’d come to mind. For Charger fans, this week 7 matchup though is just that. The Chargers come into Jacksonville on Sunday (10 a.m. Kickoff) and look to win...

Justin Blackmon, Cecil Shorts III miss practice for Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars are down four receivers, including starters Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts III, at practice on Wednesday. Blackmon is dealing with tightness in his groin and hamstring. Shorts injured the joint that connects his breastbone and collarbone in Sunday's loss at Denver. He was still in pain Wednesday, but was able to turn his...

Blaine Gabbert returns to practice but not ready for field

getty images Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert returned to practice on Thursday but is not ready to return to the playing field. Gabbert has been ineffective and injured this season as the Jaguars quarterback. Chad Henne will continue to man the position this week with Ricky Stanzi backing him up. Ricky Stanzi will be the backup QB Sunday. Gabbert is progressing...

Jaguars’ Justin Blackmon Expected to Play Sunday

The Jacksonville Jaguars are having a season to forget. The Jags are 0-6 thus far in 2013, and it is hard-pressed to think they’ll win more than one game (if that) this year. The wide receiver position has been decimated of late, with the team’s leading receiver, Cecil Shorts, suffering a sprain in his SC joint in his right shoulder. Shorts was seen showing a full-range of motion...

Jaguars News and Notes: Blackmon, Shorts Expected to Play; Sanders Ruled Out

The Jaguars Cecil Shorts might be listed as “questionable” by head coach Gus Bradley, but the team’s leading receiver seems to think he will be ready for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers.“Shorts, whose status for Sunday has been in doubt all week because of a sprained SC (shoulder) joint, worked on a limited basis Friday as the Jaguars went through their last...

Jaguars News & Notes: Gus Bradley Sees Improvement in his Troops

The one thing that Gus Bradley never loses sight of when it comes to his Jacksonville Jaguars is that the team continues to move forward. The past two weeks, although losses, have shown improvement in how the players have progressed to the point that the reps and the philosophy taught by Bradley and his coaches is being bought into the by Jaguars players and hopefully the fans in...

San Diego Chargers: 2013 Week 7 NFL Power Rankings (#21)

Last week: 23 (+2) Record: 3-3 I wasn’t shocked about the Chargers’ win over the Colts. The Colts were in an obvious trap game spot between a home upset win over the Seahawks and an impending battle with former quarterback Peyton Manning and the undefeated Broncos. The Chargers have a great offense that moves the chains with proficiency (82% moving the chains on the year), which...

Jacksonville Jaguars: 3 Keys to a Win over San Deigo

With a possibility of the return of Marcedes Lewis in the near future and a defense that looks like it may have turned a very small corner last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars go into Sunday’s game with a touch of confidence - more so than it has had at anyone one time this season. There are no “moral wins” in football and reaching double digits in points and tightening up on...

Chargers-Jaguars Preview

The San Diego Chargers have yet to climb over the .500 mark in their first six games under coach Mike McCoy. A matchup with the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars might help them finally break through. After beating a division-leading team, the Chargers will try to drop the Jaguars to 0-7 in Sunday's visit to Jacksonville. Following an inconsistent start to McCoy's tenure, San...

WR Rankings – Week Seven

WR Rankings – Week Seven Keenan Allen has been on a tear lately and has emerged as the number one receiver for Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers face a bad Jaguars team this weekend and Allen should have another solid fantasy day. We have Allen ranked as a WR2 this week as his talent is legit and his rapport with Rivers continues to grow week to week. Allen...
