Major League Soccer (MLS) handed out its individual hardware on Nov. 29 with San Jose Earthquakes’ striker Chris Wondolowski b3eing the big winner as he was named the league’s most valuable player for the 2012 season. Wondolowski was presented with the award at a ceremony at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. The Center will also host the MLS Cup Final on Dec. 1 as the Los Angeles Galaxy takes on the Houston Dynamo in a rematch of last year’s final which LA won 1-0. Wondolowski was the top scorer in the league this year with 27 goals, which tied a league record set back in 1996 by Roy Lassiter of Tampa Bay. After lifting the trophy he said it’s nice to win an individual award, but he prefers to consider it to be a team trophy as he wouldn’t have been able to win it without the help of all his teammates.
